1. Introduction

The Neoteck 1080P HDMI Audio Extractor is designed to separate audio signals from an HDMI input. It allows you to connect an HD source to a single HD display while simultaneously extracting audio to Optical TOSLINK SPDIF and Analog RCA L/R stereo outputs. This device is ideal for integrating modern HDMI devices with older audio systems that lack HDMI input.

5. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to connect your Neoteck HDMI Audio Extractor:

1. Connect your HDMI source device (e.g., Blu-ray player, PS4, Sky HD Box) to the HDMI IN port on the extractor using an HDMI cable.
2. Connect the HDMI OUT port of the extractor to your display device (e.g., TV, monitor, projector) using another HDMI cable.
3. Connect your audio receiver, soundbar, or speakers to the extractor using either the SPDIF optical cable or RCA L/R analog cables, depending on your audio system's input capabilities.
4. Connect the provided 5V USB Power Cable to the DC 5V input on the extractor and then to a 5V 1A USB power adapter (not included, typically a mobile phone charger) or a USB port on your source device/display. Ensure the power indicator light on the extractor illuminates.
5. Select the desired audio EDID mode (PASS, 2CH, or 5.1CH) using the switch on the extractor. Refer to Section 6 for details on each mode.

6. Operating Instructions

The Neoteck HDMI Audio Extractor features an EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) switch to control the audio output format. Select the appropriate mode based on your audio setup:

6.1. PASS Mode

In PASS mode, the SPDIF output audio format is determined by the EDID of the connected TV or display. This means the extractor will pass through the audio format as received from the source, allowing the display to negotiate the best audio format with the source device.

6.2. 2CH Mode

When set to 2CH mode, the SPDIF output audio format will be LPCM 2CH (stereo). This mode is suitable for stereo audio systems or when your display/audio receiver only supports 2-channel audio.

6.3. 5.1CH Mode

For 5.1CH audio output via SPDIF, ensure your source audio is 5.1CH and set the extractor to 5.1CH mode. This mode is designed for surround sound systems that can decode 5.1 channel digital audio.

6.4. PS4 Audio Settings

When using with a PS4, navigate to the PS4's audio settings and ensure the audio output format is set to Linear PCM for optimal compatibility with the extractor's 2CH mode. For 5.1CH, ensure the PS4 output is set to Bitstream (Dolby) or Bitstream (DTS) and the extractor is in 5.1CH mode.

7. Important Notes and Compatibility

• HDCP 1.4 4K Incompatibility: This device is not compatible with HDCP 1.4 4K content.
• Amazon Fire TV/Stick Incompatibility: The extractor is not compatible with Amazon Fire TV or Fire TV Stick devices.
• Power Requirement: The 5V USB power cable requires a 5V 1A charger (e.g., a mobile phone charger) for stable operation.
• No HDMI ARC Support: This device cannot convert audio from a TV's HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) port to optical or RCA outputs.

• Streaming Service Limitations: Not compatible with Netflix and YouTube video websites for audio extraction.

8. Maintenance

  • Adjust the audio settings on your source device and audio receiver.
• Incompatibility Issues:
  • Remember the device does not support HDCP 1.4 4K, Amazon Fire TV/Stick, or HDMI ARC.
  • Avoid using with Netflix or YouTube video websites for audio extraction.
