Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage. If any parts are missing or damaged, contact your retailer or Benro support immediately.

3.2 Attaching the Ball Head

The IB2 ball head is typically pre-attached to the tripod. If it is separate, screw the ball head onto the tripod's mounting screw until secure. Ensure it is tightened firmly to prevent wobbling.

3.3 Extending and Adjusting Tripod Legs

  1. Extend Legs: Loosen the Twist Lock mechanisms on each leg section by rotating them counter-clockwise. Extend the leg sections to the desired length.
  2. Secure Legs: Rotate the Twist Lock mechanisms clockwise until they are firmly tightened. Ensure each section is securely locked before placing equipment on the tripod.
  3. Adjust Leg Angles: Each leg can be independently adjusted to three different angles. Press the leg angle lock tab at the top of each leg and move the leg to the desired position. Release the tab to lock the leg in place.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Using the IB2 Ball Head

The IB2 ball head provides flexible positioning for your camera:

  • Main Lock Knob: This large knob controls the movement of the ball. Loosen it to adjust the camera angle freely, then tighten it to lock the camera in position.
  • Friction Control Knob: Located within the main lock knob, this smaller knob adjusts the tension of the ball movement. Set it to provide appropriate resistance for your camera's weight, preventing sudden drops when the main lock is loosened.
  • Pan Lock Knob: This separate knob controls the horizontal rotation (panning) of the ball head. Loosen it to pan the camera smoothly, then tighten to lock the panning movement.

4.2 Monopod Conversion

One of the tripod legs is designed to be detachable and can be used as a monopod.

  1. Identify Detachable Leg: Locate the leg with a foam grip, which is typically the detachable leg.
  2. Remove Leg: Unscrew this leg from the tripod's main chassis by rotating it counter-clockwise.
  3. Attach Ball Head: Unscrew the IB2 ball head from the tripod's center column and screw it onto the top of the detached leg.
  4. Extend Monopod: Extend the monopod sections using the Twist Lock mechanisms as described in Section 3.3.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable performance of your Benro iFOTO tripod.

  • Cleaning: After use, especially in dusty or sandy environments, wipe down the tripod legs and ball head with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Lubrication: Periodically check the leg locks and ball head mechanisms. If movement becomes stiff, apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the moving parts. Do not over-lubricate.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect all screws, bolts, and quick release mechanisms for tightness. Tighten any loose components to prevent accidental equipment damage.
  • Storage: Store the tripod in its carrying case in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures and humidity. Ensure all leg sections are retracted and locks are lightly tightened for storage.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Benro iFOTO tripod, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Tripod is unstable: Ensure all leg sections are fully extended and their Twist Locks are securely tightened. Verify that the leg angle locks are engaged. Check that the quick release plate and camera are firmly attached to the ball head.
  • Ball head movement is too loose or too stiff: Adjust the friction control knob on the IB2 ball head. Tighten to increase resistance, loosen to decrease it. Ensure the main lock knob is fully tightened when you want to fix the camera position.
  • Leg sections are difficult to extend or retract: Clean the leg sections and Twist Lock mechanisms to remove any dirt or debris. A small amount of silicone lubricant can be applied if necessary.
  • Camera wobbles on the ball head: Ensure the quick release plate is securely attached to your camera and the quick release clamp on the ball head is fully tightened.

If the problem persists, contact Benro customer support for further assistance.
