4. Installation and Setup

The T101M is a mechanism-only timer designed to be installed within an appropriate Intermatic enclosure (sold separately) or as a replacement for an existing mechanism. Ensure the enclosure is rated for the environment (indoor/outdoor) and provides adequate protection.

4.1. Wiring

  1. Disconnect Power: Before beginning any wiring, turn off power at the main circuit breaker or fuse box. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
  2. Mount Mechanism: Secure the T101M mechanism into the designated slot within the timer enclosure.
  3. Connect Line Voltage: Connect the incoming 120V line wire to the terminal marked "LINE" or "L".
  4. Connect Load: Connect the wire leading to your appliance (e.g., pool pump, water heater) to the terminal marked "LOAD" or "T".
  5. Connect Neutral: Connect the neutral wire to the terminal marked "NEUTRAL" or "N".
  6. Grounding: Ensure proper grounding according to local electrical codes.
  7. Secure Connections: Double-check all wire connections to ensure they are tight and secure.

Note: Specific wiring diagrams may vary based on the enclosure model. Always refer to the enclosure's instruction manual for detailed wiring schematics.

4.2. Initial Time Setting

  • Rotate the timer dial clockwise until the current time aligns with the "TIME NOW" arrow. The dial is marked in 24-hour format.

5. Operation

5.1. Setting ON/OFF Times

The T101M uses trippers to set the ON and OFF times. One ON tripper (green) and one OFF tripper (red) are included.

  1. Install ON Tripper: Locate the desired ON time on the timer dial. Insert the green ON tripper into the slot at this time. Ensure it is firmly seated.
  2. Install OFF Tripper: Locate the desired OFF time on the timer dial. Insert the red OFF tripper into the slot at this time. Ensure it is firmly seated.
  3. Multiple Events: For additional ON/OFF events (up to 12 per day), purchase additional trippers and install them at the desired times.

5.2. Manual Override

The timer typically includes a manual override switch or lever. Consult your specific enclosure's manual for details on how to manually turn the connected device ON or OFF without affecting the programmed schedule.

6. Maintenance

The Intermatic T101M timer is designed for long-lasting, maintenance-free operation. However, periodic checks can help ensure optimal performance.

  • Cleaning: Keep the timer mechanism and enclosure clean and free from dust and debris. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners.
  • Connections: Periodically inspect electrical connections for tightness, especially in high-vibration environments. Ensure power is disconnected before inspection.
  • Trippers: Ensure trippers are securely in place and have not shifted, which could alter the programmed schedule.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
