1. Introduction

The Meike MK-A6300 Pro is a professional battery grip designed for Sony A6300 and A6000 cameras. It provides enhanced ergonomics for vertical shooting, extends battery life by accommodating two NP-FW50 lithium batteries, and includes a 2.4GHz wireless remote control for versatile shooting options. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your MK-A6300 Pro.

2. Safety Information

  • Do not disassemble or modify the product. Unauthorized modifications can lead to malfunction or damage.
  • Keep the product dry. Do not expose it to water or high humidity.
  • Avoid extreme temperatures. Do not store or operate the product in excessively hot or cold environments.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Grip Installation

  1. Prepare the Camera: Turn off your Sony A6300 or A6000 camera. Remove the camera's battery and the battery compartment cover. Store the cover safely.
  2. Insert Batteries into Grip: Open the battery tray of the MK-A6300 Pro grip. Insert one or two NP-FW50 lithium batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Close the battery tray securely.

  1. Attach Grip to Camera: Align the battery grip's mounting screw with the camera's tripod socket. Insert the battery bin connector into the camera's battery compartment. Tighten the thumbwheel on the grip until it is firmly attached to the camera.

  1. Connect Shutter Release Cable: Connect one end of the provided shutter release cable to the battery grip's port and the other end to the camera's remote control terminal.

4.2 Remote Control Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment on the back of the wireless remote control.
  2. Insert two AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity markings.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Battery Grip Functions

  • Power Switch: The battery grip has its own ON/OFF switch. Ensure it is turned ON for the grip's functions to operate.
  • Vertical Shutter Release: The grip features a dedicated shutter release button for comfortable vertical shooting. Press halfway to focus, fully to take a picture.
  • Multi-function Control Buttons: The grip includes additional control buttons (e.g., AF/MF, AEL) and a control dial, mirroring the camera's controls for ease of use in vertical orientation.
  • Battery Life Extension: With two NP-FW50 batteries installed, the grip significantly extends your camera's operating time. The camera will draw power from one battery, then automatically switch to the second when the first is depleted.

5.2 Wireless Remote Control Functions

The 2.4GHz wireless remote control allows for remote camera operation up to 100 meters. It supports various shooting modes including single shot, continuous shooting, bulb mode, and timer functions.

  • Power On/Off: Use the power button on the remote to turn it on or off.
  • LCD Display: The LCD screen displays current settings such as delay time, exposure time, interval, and number of shots.
  • Shutter Release Button: Press halfway to focus, fully to trigger the camera shutter.
  • Directional/Set Buttons: Navigate menus and confirm selections on the remote's LCD.
  • Start/Stop Key: Initiates or stops timed shooting sequences.
  • Lighting/Lock Key: Activates the backlight for the LCD or locks the remote's buttons.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the grip and remote. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove batteries from both the grip and the remote control to prevent leakage. Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Dust and Water Resistance: The grip features a sealing technique to prevent water and dust ingress, but it is not fully waterproof. Avoid exposing it to heavy rain or submersion.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Grip not powering camera:
    • Ensure the grip's power switch is ON.
    • Check that batteries are correctly inserted and charged.
    • Verify the battery bin connector is fully seated in the camera's battery compartment.
    • Confirm the grip is securely attached to the camera.
  • Vertical shutter button not working:
    • Ensure the shutter release cable is properly connected between the grip and the camera.
    • Check camera settings for external shutter release compatibility.
  • Remote control not working:
    • Check if the remote control is powered on.
    • Replace AAA batteries in the remote control.
    • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the camera/grip.
    • Verify the remote is within the 100-meter operating range.
