3. Setup

3.1. Inserting Batteries

The FORA Pro Voice V9 meter requires two AAA batteries (included).

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the meter.
  2. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.
  4. The meter will power on automatically and prompt for initial settings.

3.2. Initial Settings (Date, Time, Language)

Upon first use or after battery replacement, you may need to set the date, time, and preferred language. Follow the on-screen prompts and use the navigation buttons to adjust values. The meter supports English and Spanish voice functions.

3.3. No Coding Required

The FORA Pro Voice V9 meter does not require manual coding. This feature simplifies the testing process and reduces the chance of errors due to incorrect code entry.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Preparing for a Test

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water. Dry them completely.
  2. Prepare the lancing device by inserting a new sterile lancet. Adjust the penetration depth as recommended by your healthcare professional.
  3. Remove a test strip from its vial. Close the vial cap immediately to protect the remaining strips from moisture.
  4. Insert the test strip into the meter's test strip port. The meter will turn on automatically and display a blood drop symbol, indicating it is ready for a blood sample. The meter may also provide audible instructions.

4.2. Obtaining a Blood Sample

The FORA Pro Voice V9 system allows for testing from the fingertip or alternative sites (palm, forearm, upper arm) for less pain. Consult your healthcare professional before using alternative site testing.

  1. Fingertip Testing: Press the lancing device firmly against the side of your fingertip and press the release button.
  2. Alternative Site Testing (AST): For AST, use the clear cap provided with your lancing device. Press the lancing device firmly against the chosen site (palm, forearm, or upper arm) and press the release button.
  3. Gently squeeze the area around the puncture site to obtain a small drop of blood. Do not smear the blood.

4.3. Applying Blood and Reading Results

  1. Touch the tip of the test strip to the blood drop. The blood will be drawn into the strip automatically. Ensure the sample volume is sufficient (0.7 µL).
  2. The meter will begin a countdown. Your blood glucose result will appear on the display in approximately 7 seconds. The meter will also audibly announce the result in your selected language (English or Spanish).
  3. After the result is displayed, remove the used test strip and dispose of it properly. The meter will turn off automatically.

4.4. Memory and Average Measurements

The meter stores up to 450 test memories with date and time. You can review past results by pressing the main button. The meter also provides 7, 14, 21, 28, 60, or 90-day average measurements of test results by simply pressing the MAIN button repeatedly to cycle through the averages.
