4. Setup and Installation
The Flamco T-plus Supporting Collar is designed for straightforward installation without the need to drain the system. Follow these steps carefully:
- Prepare the Pipe: Identify the exact location on the pipe where the branch connection is required. Ensure the pipe surface is clean and free from debris, rust, or paint.
- Position the Collar: Place the two halves of the T-plus collar around the pipe at the desired location. The tapping mechanism should be oriented correctly for the intended branch direction.
- Preliminary Assembly: Secure the collar halves using the provided snap nuts. These allow for easy preliminary assembly, holding the collar in place.
- Tighten the Bolts: Gradually tighten the securing bolts evenly on both sides using a torque wrench. Apply a torque of 30 Nm to ensure a leak-proof seal. Refer to Figure 4.1 for an example of the assembled collar.
- Insert the Trigger: Insert the single-use tapping trigger into the designated opening on the collar.
- Activate the Trigger: Follow the specific instructions provided with the trigger to activate it. This action will create the branch opening in the pipe. The tapping mechanism guarantees a perfect fit every time.
- Remove the Trigger: Once the tap is complete, carefully remove the trigger. The system remains sealed, preventing air and dirt ingress.
- Connect Branch Pipe: Connect your branch pipe to the Rp 1¼" connection point on the T-plus collar.
- Leak Check: After installation and connection of the branch pipe, thoroughly inspect all connections for any signs of leakage.

5. Operating and Maintenance
5.1. Operation
Once correctly installed and the tapping process completed, the Flamco T-plus Supporting Collar functions as a permanent branch connection point on your pipework. It does not require active operation beyond its initial installation. Ensure that the system operates within the specified pressure and temperature limits.
5.2. Maintenance
The Flamco T-plus Supporting Collar is designed for long-term, maintenance-free operation. However, periodic checks are recommended:
- Visual Inspection: Periodically inspect the collar and surrounding pipework for any signs of corrosion, damage, or leaks.
- Connection Integrity: Ensure that the branch pipe connection remains secure.
- Environmental Factors: Protect the installed collar from extreme physical impact or corrosive environments that could compromise its integrity.
- Trigger: The tapping trigger is a single-use component and cannot be maintained or reused.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Flamco T-plus Supporting Collar, consider the following:
- Leakage at Collar:
- Cause: Insufficient tightening torque, improper pipe surface preparation, or damaged sealing components.
- Solution: Ensure bolts are tightened to the specified 30 Nm. If leakage persists, the collar may need to be replaced by a professional. Do not attempt to overtighten beyond the specified torque.
- Leakage at Branch Connection:
- Cause: Improperly sealed branch pipe connection.
- Solution: Re-check the connection of the branch pipe to the Rp 1¼" port. Ensure appropriate sealing tape or compound is used and tightened correctly.
- Tapping Mechanism Failure:
- Cause: Incorrect trigger activation or a faulty single-use trigger.
- Solution: Ensure the trigger is activated according to its specific instructions. If the trigger fails to create the tap, professional assistance is required. The trigger is single-use and cannot be reset.
For issues not covered here, or if troubleshooting steps do not resolve the problem, contact a qualified plumbing professional or Flamco customer support.
