1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the proper installation, function, and replacement of your Epson Ink Maintenance Box (Model T04D000). This component is designed to collect waste ink generated during print head cleaning cycles and other printer operations, ensuring the longevity and optimal performance of your printer.
The Epson Ink Maintenance Box is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part, specifically designed for use with Epson EcoTank ET-7700 and ET-7750 printer models.

2. Setup and Installation
The printer's software will notify you when the Ink Maintenance Box needs to be replaced. It is recommended to have a replacement box ready when this notification appears to avoid interruptions in printing.
2.1. Preparing for Replacement
- Ensure the printer is turned on.
- Open the printer's front cover or access panel to locate the maintenance box compartment. Refer to your printer's user manual for the exact location.
- Have a new Epson Ink Maintenance Box (T04D000) ready.
- Prepare a plastic bag or newspaper to place the old maintenance box, as it will contain waste ink.
2.2. Removing the Old Maintenance Box
- Carefully open the maintenance box cover.
- Grasp the old maintenance box and pull it straight out from the printer. Avoid tilting the box to prevent ink spills.
- Immediately place the used maintenance box into the prepared plastic bag and seal it to prevent ink leakage.
2.3. Installing the New Maintenance Box
- Remove the new maintenance box from its packaging.
- Insert the new maintenance box into the slot, pushing it in firmly until it clicks into place. Ensure it is fully seated.
- Close the maintenance box cover and any other printer covers that were opened.
- The printer should automatically detect the new maintenance box and reset the counter. Follow any on-screen prompts on the printer's display.
3. Operation
The Ink Maintenance Box functions automatically as part of your Epson EcoTank printer's normal operation. It collects waste ink generated during various processes, including:
- Print Head Cleaning Cycles: When the printer performs routine or manual print head cleaning, waste ink is flushed from the nozzles into the maintenance box.
- Initial Ink Charging: During the initial setup of a new printer, a small amount of ink is used to charge the print head, and some of this may be collected.
- Border-less Printing: Excess ink sprayed beyond the edges of the paper during border-less printing is also directed to the maintenance box.
The printer's internal system monitors the fill level of the maintenance box. When it reaches its capacity, the printer will display a message indicating that the box needs to be replaced. The printer will cease operation until a new maintenance box is installed.
4. Maintenance
The Epson Ink Maintenance Box is a consumable item designed for single use. It cannot be emptied or cleaned for reuse. Attempting to do so may damage your printer or cause ink spills.
- Replacement: Replace the maintenance box only when prompted by your printer or its software.
- Disposal: Dispose of the used maintenance box according to local regulations for electronic waste or ink cartridges. Do not dispose of it in regular household trash, as it contains ink.
- Storage: Store new maintenance boxes in their original sealed packaging in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues related to the Ink Maintenance Box, refer to the following common scenarios:
5.1. "Maintenance Box Needs Replacement" Error Persists After Installation
- Check Installation: Ensure the new maintenance box is fully inserted and clicked into place. Remove and reinsert it firmly.
- Printer Restart: Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. This can sometimes clear temporary errors.
- Genuine Part: Verify that you are using a genuine Epson Ink Maintenance Box (Model T04D000). Non-genuine parts may not be recognized correctly.
5.2. Ink Leakage from Maintenance Box
- During Removal: If ink leaks during removal, it indicates the box was tilted. Always keep the used box level and immediately place it in a sealed bag.
- From Printer: If ink is leaking from the printer itself, and not directly from the maintenance box, this may indicate a more serious internal issue. Contact Epson support.
5.3. Printer Not Printing and No Error Message
- While less common for maintenance box issues, ensure all printer covers are closed securely after installation. The printer will not operate if covers are open.
- Check other common printer issues such as paper jams or low ink levels.
