7. Operating Instructions: How to Check Your Glucose Level

Follow these steps to perform a blood glucose test:

  1. Prepare Finger: Wipe your chosen fingertip with a clean alcohol pad and allow it to air dry.
  2. Prepare Lancing Device:
    • Unscrew the cap of the lancing device.
    • Insert a new, sterile lancet into the device.
    • Carefully twist off the round protective cover from the lancet.
    • Replace the lancing device cap.
    • Adjust the depth setting on the cap (1 for weakest, 5 for strongest) according to your skin type.
    • Pull the handle on the colored end of the device to load the spring.
  3. Prick Finger: Place the lancing device firmly against your fingertip and press the release button on the side of the device. Gently turn your palm upward to encourage a blood droplet.
  4. Insert Test Strip: Insert a new test strip into the Test Strip Port of the meter. The meter will turn on automatically and display a code number.
  5. Confirm Code: Double-check that the displayed code number on the meter matches the code printed on the test strip bottle label.
  6. Apply Blood Sample: Once the blood drop symbol appears on the meter, touch the tip of the test strip to the blood droplet. The blood will be drawn into the strip.
  7. Read Result: The meter will count down, and your blood glucose result will be displayed in 5 seconds.
  8. Discard Strip: After checking the result, use the test strip ejector on the back of the meter to safely discard the used strip.
