1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the assembly, operation, and maintenance of your EJWOX 3.2 Gallon Manual Fruit and Wine Press. 2. Safety Instructions

4. Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your fruit press:

1. Assemble the Base: Attach the three legs to the main base plate using the provided screws and nuts. Ensure they are tightened securely.
2. Assemble the Wooden Barrel: The beech wood slats are held together by metal rings. Ensure the bevel edge of each slat faces in one direction, and the smooth edge faces the opposite side. Secure the slats to the metal rings using the provided screws.
3. Attach the Pressing Mechanism: Insert the threaded rod into the center of the base plate. Place the assembled wooden barrel onto the base plate, ensuring it is centered.
4. Install the Handle: Attach the metal handle and screw mechanism to the top of the threaded rod.
5. Secure the Press: For optimal stability and safety during operation, it is recommended to bolt the press to a sturdy table or workbench using the pre-drilled holes in the feet.

5. Operating Instructions

1. Prepare the Fruit: For optimal juice extraction, fruit must be crushed or ground into a pulp before pressing. Whole or roughly chopped fruit will yield significantly less juice.
2. Load the Press: Line the wooden basket with the provided filtration bag. Carefully load the crushed fruit pulp into the bag within the basket. Do not overfill.
3. Position Pressing Components: Place the metal pressing plate on top of the fruit pulp. Add the wooden pressing blocks on top of the metal plate, stacking them to reach the screw mechanism.
4. Begin Pressing: Position the handle over the threaded rod and begin turning it clockwise. This will lower the pressing plate, applying pressure to the fruit pulp.
5. Collect Juice: As pressure is applied, juice will flow through the basket slats and out the pour spout at the base. Place a collection container (not included) beneath the spout.
6. Continue Pressing: Continue turning the handle until the juice flow significantly slows or stops. You may need to adjust the blocks or re-tighten the handle to maximize extraction.

6. Maintenance

Cleaning:

• After each use, disassemble the press components.
• Hand wash all parts with warm, soapy water. The manufacturer recommends hand washing only.
• Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
• Ensure all parts, especially the wooden components, are completely dry before storage to prevent mold or damage.

Storage:

• Store the press in a clean, dry place.
• Consider applying a food-grade mineral oil to the wooden parts periodically to maintain their condition and prevent drying or cracking.
• Lightly oil the metal screw mechanism to ensure smooth operation and prevent rust.

7. Troubleshooting

• Issue: Little to no juice extraction.
  Solution: Ensure fruit is properly crushed or ground into a fine pulp before pressing. The press is designed for pulp, not whole or large fruit pieces.
• Issue: Press unit moves or spins during operation.
  Solution: Securely mount the press to a stable surface using the screw holes in the feet. This prevents movement and ensures efficient pressing.
• Issue: Wooden slats splitting during assembly.
  Solution: If the wood appears dry, consider soaking the wooden slats in water for a few hours before assembly to increase flexibility. Ensure screws are driven straight and not overtightened.
• Issue: Not enough wooden blocks to apply sufficient pressure.
  Solution: If the press is not fully loaded, you may need additional wooden blocks or a sturdy, food-safe spacer to fill the gap and allow the screw mechanism to apply adequate pressure.
