Important Safety Information
Please read this entire instruction manual carefully before assembling, operating, or servicing this gas heater. Failure to follow these instructions could result in fire, explosion, property damage, personal injury, or death.
- This appliance is for outdoor use only, or in well-ventilated indoor areas (greater than 42 m³), and only with an appropriate indoor gas pressure regulator (2 pressure levels, manometer, and thermal fuse).
- Maintain a minimum distance of 1 meter (39 inches) from combustible materials or objects.
- Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance.
- Always ensure adequate ventilation. Never operate the heater in an unventilated space.
- Do not obstruct the ventilation openings of the appliance.
- Always check for gas leaks after connecting a new gas cylinder or if the appliance has not been used for a long time. Use a soapy water solution; never use an open flame.
- Keep children and pets away from the heater.
- Do not move the heater while it is in operation or still hot.
- Only use the type of gas and pressure regulator specified by the manufacturer. This heater is designed for use with butane or propane gas cylinders up to 15 kg (G30 and G31 gas types) at a working pressure of 50 mbar.
- If you smell gas, immediately turn off the gas supply, extinguish any open flames, and ventilate the area. Do not attempt to light the appliance.
Setup and Assembly
The Blumfeldt HHG9-Bonaparte gas heater is designed for easy assembly. Follow these steps to set up your heater.
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts are present and undamaged.
- Base Assembly: Insert the lower part of the heater, where the gas bottle will rest, and secure it firmly with the provided screws.
- Gas Hose and Regulator Connection:
- Connect the gas hose to the heater's gas inlet.
- Attach the pressure regulator to the other end of the gas hose.
- Important: For a secure and leak-free connection, it is highly recommended to use a gas-approved sealing paste on all threaded gas connections. Consult a qualified gas technician if unsure.
- Battery Installation for Piezo Ignition: Locate the battery compartment for the piezo ignition system. Insert the supplied AAA battery, ensuring correct polarity. Secure the cover.
- Gas Bottle Placement: Open the access cover to the gas bottle compartment. Carefully place a 5 kg to 15 kg butane or propane gas bottle onto the base.
- Connect Gas Bottle: Connect the pressure regulator to the gas bottle valve. Tighten securely by hand, then use a wrench for a final snug turn, but do not overtighten.
- Leak Test: Before first use, perform a leak test.
- Ensure the heater's control knob is in the "OFF" position.
- Open the gas bottle valve slowly.
- Apply a soapy water solution to all gas connections (hose to heater, regulator to hose, regulator to gas bottle).
- If bubbles appear, there is a leak. Immediately close the gas bottle valve and tighten the connections. Repeat the leak test. If leaks persist, do not use the heater and contact customer support.
- Positioning: Place the heater on a stable, level surface, ensuring the minimum distance of 1 meter from any combustible materials. The integrated wheels allow for easy repositioning.

Operating Instructions
The Blumfeldt HHG9-Bonaparte gas heater offers three power levels for adjustable warmth.
Starting the Heater:
- Ensure the gas bottle valve is fully open.
- Press and hold the control knob down, then rotate it to the desired power level (1, 2, or 3).
- While holding the knob down, press the red "IGNITION" button repeatedly until the burner ignites. You should hear a clicking sound and see the flame.
- Continue to hold the control knob down for approximately 10-20 seconds after ignition to allow the thermocouple to heat up and engage the safety valve.
- Release the control knob. The heater should remain lit. If it extinguishes, repeat the ignition process.
Adjusting Heat Output:
Rotate the control knob to select one of the three power levels:
- Level 1: Approximately 1600 W
- Level 2: Approximately 2600 W
- Level 3: Approximately 4200 W (Maximum output)
Shutting Down the Heater:
- Rotate the control knob to the "OFF" position.
- Close the valve on the gas bottle.
- Allow the heater to cool completely before moving or storing.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the safe and efficient operation of your Blumfeldt HHG9-Bonaparte gas heater. Always ensure the heater is cool and the gas supply is turned off before performing any maintenance.
- Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure no water enters the burner or control areas.
- Burner Inspection: Periodically inspect the ceramic burner for any blockages, cracks, or damage. A yellow flame instead of a blue flame can indicate a burner issue or gas supply problem.
- Gas Hose and Regulator: Regularly check the gas hose for signs of wear, cracks, or damage. Replace the hose and regulator if any damage is found or if they are past their recommended lifespan (typically 5 years for hoses, 10 years for regulators).
- Ventilation Openings: Ensure all ventilation openings are clear of dust, debris, or obstructions.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, disconnect the gas bottle and store the heater in a dry, protected area.
