5.4 Threading the Machine

Proper threading is crucial for good stitch quality.

5.4.1 Winding the Bobbin

  1. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin.
  2. Guide the thread through the bobbin winder tension disc.
  3. Place an empty bobbin onto the bobbin winder spindle.
  4. Wrap the thread around the bobbin a few times clockwise.
  5. Push the bobbin winder spindle to the right.
  6. Turn on the machine (using the hand switch or foot pedal) to wind the bobbin. Stop when the bobbin is full.
  7. Cut the thread and push the bobbin winder spindle back to the left. Remove the wound bobbin.

5.4.2 Inserting the Lower Bobbin

  1. Open the bobbin cover plate.
  2. Insert the wound bobbin into the bobbin case, ensuring the thread unwinds in the correct direction (usually counter-clockwise).
  3. Guide the thread through the tension spring and out through the small opening.
  4. Close the bobbin cover plate.

5.4.3 Threading the Upper Thread

  1. Raise the needle to its highest position by turning the handwheel towards you.
  2. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin.
  3. Guide the thread through the upper thread guide.
  4. Pass the thread down through the tension discs.
  5. Guide the thread up and through the take-up lever (from right to left).
  6. Thread the needle from front to back.
  7. Pull about 15 cm (6 inches) of thread through the needle eye.

5.4.4 Bringing Up the Bobbin Thread

  1. Hold the upper thread lightly with your left hand.
  2. Turn the handwheel towards you, lowering and then raising the needle. The needle will catch the bobbin thread.
  3. Pull the upper thread gently to bring the bobbin thread loop up through the needle plate hole.
  4. Pull both threads (upper and bobbin) under the presser foot and towards the back of the machine.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Selecting a Stitch Pattern

  • Ensure the needle is in its highest position before changing stitch patterns to prevent needle breakage.

6.2 Adjusting Sewing Speed

  • Use the Speed Selector Switch (L/OFF/H) to choose between Low (L) or High (H) speed.
  • If using the foot pedal, the speed switch should be set to the desired maximum speed, and the foot pedal will control the actual speed.

6.3 Starting to Sew

  1. Place the fabric under the presser foot.
  2. Lower the presser foot lever.
  3. Turn the handwheel to lower the needle into the fabric at the starting point.
