WARNING:
Always follow basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury when using your appliance.

Figure 1: Front view of the Midea 14 Cu. Ft. Convertible Upright Freezer, showing the door handle on the left and the digital control panel on the upper right side of the door.
Your Midea Convertible Upright Freezer features a sleek design with a reversible door and an external digital control panel for easy temperature management. Key components include:
Place the freezer on a flat, stable surface strong enough to support the unit when fully loaded. Allow at least 4 inches (10 cm) of space around the back and sides for proper air circulation and cooling efficiency. Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources.
Adjust the leveling legs at the bottom of the unit to ensure it is stable and level. A level appliance operates more efficiently and prevents door alignment issues.
Plug the appliance into a dedicated, grounded 115V, 60Hz AC outlet. Do not use extension cords or adapter plugs. Allow the unit to stand upright for at least 2-4 hours before plugging it in to allow refrigerants to settle.
The external digital control panel allows you to set the temperature and switch between freezer and refrigerator modes. The display shows the current temperature setting.
Press the "Temp" button on the control panel to cycle through available temperature settings. For freezer mode, typical settings range from -11°F to 10°F (-24°C to -12°C). For refrigerator mode, typical settings range from 34°F to 46°F (1°C to 8°C).
To switch modes, press and hold the "Mode" button for 3 seconds. The display will indicate the current mode (e.g., "Fr" for Freezer, "Re" for Refrigerator). Allow several hours for the appliance to reach the new desired temperature after conversion.
Before loading food, allow the appliance to operate for at least 24 hours to ensure it reaches the set temperature and stabilizes.
Unplug the appliance before cleaning. Wash the interior surfaces with a solution of mild detergent and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
Clean the exterior surfaces with a soft cloth dampened with mild detergent. For stainless steel finishes, use a stainless steel cleaner. Wipe dry to prevent streaks.
Periodically clean the condenser coils located at the back or bottom of the unit. Dust and debris can accumulate, reducing efficiency. Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment.
This unit features automatic defrost. However, if excessive frost builds up, manually defrost the unit by unplugging it and allowing the frost to melt. Remove water with a towel.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Appliance does not operate | Not plugged in; Circuit breaker tripped; Power outage. | Ensure plug is secure; Reset circuit breaker; Check household power. |
| Temperature is not cold enough | Door not closed properly; Excessive door openings; Warm food added; Unit in Refrigerator mode. | Check door seal; Reduce door openings; Allow time for new food to cool; Verify mode setting. |
| Noises | Normal operating sounds (compressor, refrigerant flow); Unit not level. | These are normal; Adjust leveling legs. |
| Frost buildup | Frequent door openings; High humidity; Door seal issue. | Reduce door openings; Ensure door seal is tight; Manually defrost if necessary. |
If the problem persists after checking the above, please contact customer support.
