1. Introduction
The Inkbird IBS-TH1 is a smart wireless temperature and humidity data logger designed for precise environmental monitoring. This device connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth, allowing you to track real-time data, view historical trends, and receive alerts when conditions exceed your preset ranges. It is suitable for various applications including basements, greenhouses, guitar cases, and more.
2. Key Features
- Monitoring Range: Up to 30 meters / 100ft (without obstructions).
- Temperature Range: -40 to 60 Celsius (-104 to 140 Fahrenheit) for the inner sensor, and -40 to 100 Celsius (-104 to 212 Fahrenheit) for the external probe.
- Humidity Range: 0 to 99%RH with fast response, utilizing France HTU21D sensors for lower power consumption and longer working life.
- Data Storage: Holds up to 30,000 data points. Stores data for 20 days if the sampling interval is 1 minute. Adjustable sampling intervals (10s, 30s, 1min, 2min, 5min, 10min, 30min).
- Probes & Modes: Includes both internal and external probes. The external probe can monitor liquid temperatures. Supports Celsius/Fahrenheit mode and features a magnet for convenient placement.
- App Compatibility: Engbird app is compatible with iOS and Android systems, supporting multi-language display. Allows remote checking of historical and real-time data via Bluetooth.
- Multi-Device Support: One mobile phone can monitor multiple sensors, and one sensor can be monitored by multiple mobile phones.

4. Setup
4.1. Powering On
The IBS-TH1 requires batteries for operation. To power on the device for the first time:
- Open the back cover of the main unit.
- Remove any insulating strip from the battery compartment.
- Insert 2 x AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity. (Note: Some models may use a CR2477 battery, as mentioned in user reviews, despite specifications indicating no batteries required. Please check your specific unit.)
- Close the back cover. The device should switch on automatically.
4.2. App Installation
Download the "Engbird" app from your smartphone's app store (available for iOS and Android).
4.3. Bluetooth Connection
To connect your IBS-TH1 to the Engbird app:
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
- Important: Due to SDK upgrades (version 26 and above), it is necessary to launch GPS to tag your position for scanning Bluetooth devices. This applies to Android versions 23 and higher.
- Open the Engbird app.
- Follow the in-app instructions to add a new device. The app will scan for nearby IBS-TH1 units.
- Select your IBS-TH1 from the list to establish a connection.
4.4. Probe Connection
If you wish to use the external probe, plug it into the designated port on the IBS-TH1 main unit. The device will automatically switch to reading from the external probe.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Monitoring Data
Once connected to the Engbird app, you can view real-time temperature and humidity readings. The app displays data from either the internal sensor or the external probe, depending on which is active.

5.2. Data Logging and Export
- The device automatically logs data at the set sampling interval.
- You can adjust the sampling interval (10s, 30s, 1min, 2min, 5min, 10min, 30min) within the app settings. Note that changing the interval will affect the maximum data storage duration.
- Historical data can be viewed as graphs within the app.
- The app allows you to export historical data for further analysis.
5.3. Setting Alarms
You can set high and low temperature and humidity alarm thresholds in the Engbird app. If the readings go outside these thresholds, you will receive notifications on your smartphone.
5.4. Unit Switching
Switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units directly within the Engbird app settings.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the device clean with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: When the battery indicator in the app or on the device shows low power, replace the batteries promptly to ensure continuous monitoring.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.
7. Troubleshooting
- Device not connecting to app:
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
- Verify the device has fresh batteries and is powered on.
- For Android devices (version 23+), ensure GPS is enabled and launched for Bluetooth scanning, as per SDK requirements.
- Make sure the device is within the 30-meter (100ft) Bluetooth range without significant obstructions.
- Inaccurate readings:
- Ensure the sensors (internal or external probe) are not obstructed or exposed to extreme conditions beyond their specified range.
- The app may offer calibration options for temperature and humidity if minor adjustments are needed.
- Short battery life:
- Ensure you are using high-quality batteries.
- Frequent data logging (shorter sampling intervals) or constant app connection can consume more battery power.
