Setup
1. Insert SIM Card
- Locate the SIM card tray on the side of the device.
- Insert the SIM eject tool into the small hole on the tray and press firmly until the tray pops out.
- Place your nano-SIM card into the tray with the gold contacts facing down and the notched corner aligned.
- Carefully push the tray back into the device until it clicks into place.
Note: Ensure the device is powered off before inserting or removing the SIM card.
2. Power On and Initial Configuration
- Press and hold the Power button (located on the right side of the device) until the Google logo appears.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to select your language, connect to a Wi-Fi network, and sign in with your Google Account.
- You will be guided through setting up security features like fingerprint unlock and screen lock.
- Transfer data from an old device using the provided Quick Switch Adapter if desired.
Operating Your Device
Basic Navigation
- Home Screen: Swipe left or right to access app pages. Swipe up from the bottom to open the app drawer.
- Notifications: Swipe down from the top of the screen to view notifications and quick settings.
- Recent Apps: Tap the square navigation button (or swipe up and hold from the bottom on gesture navigation) to see recently used applications.
- Google Assistant: Squeeze the sides of your phone (Active Edge) or say "Hey Google" to activate the Google Assistant.
Camera Functions
The Pixel 2 features a 12.2MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, optical and electronic image stabilization, and autofocus with laser + dual pixel phase detection. The front camera is 8MP with f/2.4 aperture.
- Open the Camera app from your home screen or app drawer.
- Tap the shutter button to take a photo.
- Swipe left or right to switch between photo, video, portrait, and other modes.
- Tap on the screen to focus on a specific object.
Connectivity
- Wi-Fi: Go to Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi to connect to available networks.
