4. Setup and Wiring
Proper wiring is crucial for the safe and correct operation of the STC-3000. Refer to the wiring diagram below.

Figure 4.1: Wiring diagram for the STC-3000. Terminals 1 and 2 are for power input (Powerinput). Terminals 3 and 4 are for the sensor (Sensor). Terminals 5 and 6 are for the load (Load).
Wiring Instructions:
- Power Input (Terminals 1 & 2): Connect your 110-220V AC power supply to these terminals. Ensure the power is off before connecting.
- Sensor Connection (Terminals 3 & 4): Connect the provided temperature sensor probe to these terminals. The sensor is non-polar, so connection order does not matter.
- Load Output (Terminals 5 & 6): Connect the device you wish to control (e.g., heater, cooler) to these terminals. The controller acts as a switch for the load.
Note: This thermostat uses a single-pole relay. For 240V applications in regions like the USA where 240V is two 120V phases, only one phase of the load will be switched. Consider using an external dual-pole relay for complete power disconnection of the load if required by your application or local electrical codes.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Basic Operation
- Power On/Off: Press and hold the power button (usually located near the display) to turn the unit on or off.
- Display: The large LED display shows the current measured temperature.
- Key Lock/Unlock: To unlock the buttons for setting parameters, press and hold the "SET" button for approximately 5 seconds until the display changes or unlocks. The lock icon will disappear.
5.2 Setting Temperature Parameters
The STC-3000 allows you to set a target temperature and a hysteresis (difference) value to control the heating/cooling cycle.
- Set Target Temperature:
- Press the "SET" button once. The current set temperature will flash.
- Use the "Up" (▲) and "Down" (▼) arrows to adjust the desired target temperature.
- Press "OK" or wait a few seconds for the setting to be saved.
- Accessing Advanced Settings (P-codes):
- Press and hold the "SET" button for approximately 3-5 seconds until "P0" appears on the display.
- Use the "Up" (▲) and "Down" (▼) arrows to navigate through the P-codes (P0, P1, P2, etc.).
- Press "SET" again to enter a specific P-code setting.
- Use "Up" (▲) and "Down" (▼) to adjust the value.
- Press "OK" or "SET" to confirm and exit the P-code setting.
Common P-Codes:
| Code | Description | Range | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| P0 | Heating/Cooling Mode (H/C) | H (Heating), C (Cooling) | C |
| P1 | Hysteresis Setting (Difference Value) | 0.1-30.0°C | 2.0°C |
| P2 | Highest Set Point Limit | -55 to 120°C | 120°C |
| P3 | Lowest Set Point Limit | -55 to 120°C | -55°C |
| P4 | Temperature Calibration | -10.0 to 10.0°C | 0.0°C |
| P5 | Delay Start Time (Compressor Delay) | 0-10 minutes | 0 minutes |
| P6 | High Temperature Alarm | -55 to 120°C | 120°C |
5.3 Switching between Celsius and Fahrenheit
Although the product label may indicate Fahrenheit, this model primarily displays in Celsius. However, some units may have a hidden function to switch. To attempt to switch between Celsius (C) and Fahrenheit (F) display modes:
- With the unit powered on and unlocked, press and hold the gray space between the "SET" and "RST" buttons (or the "OK" button on some variants) for approximately 5 seconds.
- The display should switch between "C" and "F" indicators if this function is available on your specific unit.
6. Maintenance
The STC-3000 is designed for low maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure longevity:
- Cleaning: Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Sensor Care: Ensure the temperature sensor is clean and free from debris. Do not bend or damage the sensor cable excessively.
- Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
- Environment: Operate the controller within its specified temperature and humidity ranges.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your STC-3000, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Display is blank or not powering on. | No power supply; incorrect wiring; faulty unit. | Check power connections (Terminals 1 & 2). Ensure voltage matches specifications. Verify wiring. |
| Temperature reading is inaccurate. | Sensor damaged or disconnected; sensor calibration needed. | Check sensor connection (Terminals 3 & 4). Calibrate the sensor using P4 setting. Replace sensor if damaged. |
| Load (heater/cooler) not activating. | Incorrect set point/hysteresis; load wiring issue; delay start active; faulty relay. | Verify set temperature and hysteresis (P1). Check load wiring (Terminals 5 & 6). Check P5 (delay start). If all else fails, the internal relay might be faulty. |
| Buttons are unresponsive. | Key lock is active. | Press and hold the "SET" button for 5 seconds to unlock the keys. |
| Unit displays "HHH" or "LLL". | Sensor error (out of range or disconnected). | "HHH" indicates temperature is above the maximum measurable range. "LLL" indicates temperature is below the minimum measurable range or sensor is disconnected. Check sensor connection and integrity. |
7.1 Factory Reset
To restore the controller to its factory default settings:
- With the unit powered on, press and hold the "RST" button for approximately 5 seconds.
- The display will briefly show "888" or similar, indicating the reset is complete.
- After resetting, you may need to reconfigure your desired temperature and other parameters.
