2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety instructions before operating the digital caliper. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the tool.

3. Product Overview

Familiarize yourself with the components of your digital caliper:

  1. External Measuring Jaws: Used for measuring external dimensions.
  2. Internal Measuring Jaws: Used for measuring internal dimensions.
  3. Depth Measuring Blade: Used for measuring depths.
  4. Step Measuring Face: Used for measuring step dimensions.
  5. Main Scale (Beam): The fixed part of the caliper with the main measurement scale.
  6. Movable Jaw: Slides along the main scale.
  7. LCD Display: Shows digital measurement readings.
  8. ON/OFF Button: Powers the unit on or off.
  9. ZERO Button: Sets the display to zero at any position.
  10. mm/inch Button: Switches between millimeter and inch units.
  11. Thumb Roller: For fine adjustment of the movable jaw.
  12. Locking Screw: Secures the movable jaw in position.

4. Setup

4.1. Battery Installation

The digital caliper is powered by a button cell battery (typically SR44/LR44 1.5V). Batteries are not included with the product.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the display unit.
  2. Slide the cover open.
  3. Insert a new 1.5V button cell battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2. Initial Power On and Zeroing

  1. Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the caliper.
  2. Gently close the external measuring jaws completely.
  3. Press the ZERO button. The display should now read 0.00 mm or 0.000 in.
  4. Press the mm/inch button to select your desired unit of measurement.

Your caliper is now ready for use.

5. Operating Instructions

Ensure the caliper is clean and zeroed before taking any measurements.

5.1. External Measurement

  1. Open the external measuring jaws wider than the object to be measured.
  2. Place the object between the jaws.
  3. Gently close the jaws until they make firm contact with the object. Use the thumb roller for fine adjustment.
  4. Read the measurement directly from the LCD display.
  5. For consistent readings, apply light, even pressure.

5.2. Internal Measurement

  1. Insert the internal measuring jaws into the opening to be measured.
  2. Open the jaws until they make firm contact with the inner walls of the opening.
  3. Read the measurement from the LCD display.

5.3. Depth Measurement

  1. Place the end of the main scale firmly on the top surface of the object.
  2. Extend the depth measuring blade into the hole or recess until its end touches the bottom.
  3. Read the measurement from the LCD display.

5.4. Step Measurement

  1. Place the step measuring face on the higher surface of the step.
  2. Slide the movable jaw until the end of the main scale rests on the lower surface of the step.
  3. Read the measurement from the LCD display.
