3. Initial Setup
3.1 Installing the Battery
The G-Tech Lite meter uses one CR2032 lithium battery, which is included. To install or replace the battery:

- Insert the CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.

4. Taking a Blood Glucose Measurement
Follow these steps for an accurate blood glucose test:
- Wash and Dry Hands: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water, then dry them completely. This helps prevent infection and ensures an accurate sample.
- Insert Test Strip: Remove a G-Tech Lite test strip from its vial and immediately close the vial cap tightly. Insert the test strip into the meter's test strip port. The meter will turn on automatically and display a code (AutoCode system eliminates manual coding).
- Obtain Blood Sample: Use the prepared lancing device to prick the side of your fingertip. Gently squeeze your finger until a small drop of blood (approximately 0.5 microliter) forms.
- Apply Blood Sample: Touch the tip of the test strip to the blood drop. The blood will be drawn into the strip automatically. Do not apply blood to the top of the strip.
- Read Results: The meter will count down and display your blood glucose result in approximately 5 seconds.
- Record Results: The meter automatically stores the result. You can also manually record it in a logbook.
- Eject Strip: Use the strip ejector button to safely dispose of the used test strip without touching it.
- Dispose of Lancet: Carefully remove the used lancet from the lancing device and dispose of it in a sharps container.
