2. Safety Information
- Electrical Hazard: Installation requires bypassing the existing ballast. This involves working with electrical wiring. If you are not experienced with electrical installations, it is highly recommended to consult a qualified electrician to prevent electrical shock or damage to the product and property.
- Compatibility: These LED tubes are designed for direct wire (ballast bypass) installation. They are not compatible with fixtures that still use a ballast.
- Electromagnetic Interference (EMI): Install this product away from sensitive electronic devices such as radios or remote control systems, as it may cause electromagnetic interference.
- Indoor Use: While suitable for outdoor signs, the primary usage is specified as indoor. Ensure the fixture provides adequate protection from direct weather exposure if used outdoors.
3. Installation (Ballast Bypass)
The JESLED 5FT R17D LED tube lights are dual-end powered and require a ballast bypass installation. This means the existing fluorescent ballast must be removed or disconnected, and the fixture must be rewired to directly power the LED tubes.
3.1 Tools Required
- Screwdriver set

3.2 Installation Steps
- Power Disconnection: IMPORTANT: Turn off power to the fixture at the circuit breaker before beginning installation. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
- Remove Existing Tubes: Carefully remove the old fluorescent tubes from the fixture.
- Access Ballast: Open the fixture to access the wiring compartment and the ballast.
- Bypass/Remove Ballast:
- Cut all wires leading to and from the ballast.

- Identify the live (hot) and neutral wires from the main power supply.
- Rewire the Fixture:
- Connect the live (hot) wire from the power supply to the pins on one end of the lamp holders (shunted or non-shunted, depending on fixture type).
- Connect the neutral wire from the power supply to the pins on the other end of the lamp holders.
- Ensure all connections are secure using wire nuts or appropriate connectors.

- Install LED Tubes: Insert the JESLED 5FT R17D LED tubes into the lamp holders. Ensure they are securely seated.
- Adjust Rotation: The tube ends are rotatable. Adjust the tube to direct the light as needed for optimal illumination.

- Close Fixture: Close the fixture cover.
- Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.
- Test: Verify that the LED tubes illuminate correctly.

6. Troubleshooting
- Light Does Not Turn On:
- Check the circuit breaker to ensure power is supplied to the fixture.
- Verify all wiring connections are secure and correctly installed (ballast bypass).
- Ensure the LED tube is properly seated in the lamp holders.
- Test with another known working LED tube if available to rule out a faulty tube.
- Flickering or Dim Light:
- Confirm that the ballast has been completely bypassed. Residual ballast wiring can cause issues.
- Check for loose wiring connections.
- Ensure the voltage supplied to the fixture is within the specified range (100-277V AC).
- Electromagnetic Interference (EMI):
- If interference with radios or remote controls occurs, try relocating the affected devices or ensuring proper grounding of the fixture.
- Tube Sagging (for longer tubes): While this model is 5FT, for any long tube installations, ensure adequate support is provided along the length of the tube to prevent sagging over time.
