Your safety and the safety of others are very important. We have provided many important safety messages in this manual and on your appliance. Always read and obey all safety messages.

General Safety Precautions:

  • This appliance must be properly installed and located in accordance with the Installation Instructions before it is used.
  • Do not allow children to climb, stand, or hang on the shelves of the freezer. They could damage the freezer and seriously injure themselves.
  • Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance.
  • Keep fingers out of the "pinch point" areas; clearances between the door and cabinet are necessarily small. Be careful closing the door when children are in the area.
  • Unplug the freezer before cleaning or making repairs.
  • Ensure the freezer is placed on a firm, level surface to prevent vibration and noise.

Setup

Unpacking and Placement:

  1. Remove all packaging materials, including the foam base and adhesive tape holding accessories.
  2. Place the freezer on a flat, solid surface that is strong enough to support the unit when fully loaded.
  3. Allow at least 4 inches (10 cm) of space between the back and sides of the freezer and any adjacent walls to allow for proper air circulation.
  4. Adjust the leveling legs at the bottom of the freezer to ensure the unit is stable and level. This helps reduce vibration and noise.

Initial Power-On:

  1. After placing the freezer, wait at least 24 hours before plugging it into a power outlet. This allows the refrigerant to settle, preventing potential damage to the cooling system.
  2. Plug the freezer into a dedicated 120V, 60Hz grounded electrical outlet. Do not use extension cords.
  3. Set the thermostat to the desired temperature (refer to Operating Instructions).
  4. Allow the freezer to run for several hours (at least 4-6 hours) before placing food inside to ensure it reaches the optimal freezing temperature.

Operating Instructions

Temperature Control:

The freezer is equipped with an adjustable thermostat control located on the exterior or interior of the unit. To adjust the temperature:

  • Turn the thermostat dial to a higher number for colder temperatures.
  • Turn the thermostat dial to a lower number for less cold temperatures.
  • The recommended setting for general use is typically midway on the dial.
  • Monitor the temperature inside the freezer with a freezer thermometer to ensure food safety.

Loading the Freezer:

The freezer includes a full-width wire shelf for organized storage. Utilize this shelf for smaller items or frequently accessed foods.

  • Do not overload the freezer. Allow space for air to circulate around items for efficient freezing.
  • Package foods properly in airtight containers or freezer bags to prevent freezer burn.
  • Avoid placing hot foods directly into the freezer, as this can raise the internal temperature and affect other frozen items.

Maintenance

Cleaning Your Freezer:

Regular cleaning helps maintain the efficiency and appearance of your freezer.

  1. Always unplug the freezer before cleaning.
  2. Wash the interior with a solution of two tablespoons of baking soda to one quart of warm water.
  3. Clean the gasket around the door with a mild detergent and warm water.
  4. Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth dampened with mild detergent or appliance cleaner.
  5. Ensure all surfaces are thoroughly dried before plugging the freezer back in.

Defrosting:

This freezer is a manual defrost model. Defrost when frost accumulation reaches about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) thick.

  1. Unplug the freezer from the power outlet.
  2. Remove all food items and store them in another freezer or cooler.
  3. Leave the freezer door open to allow frost to melt naturally. You can place towels at the bottom to absorb water.
  4. Once all frost has melted, clean and dry the interior thoroughly.
  5. Plug the freezer back in and allow it to cool for several hours before returning food.
