4. Setup Guide
Follow these steps to set up your Angelcare AC017 monitor:
4.1 Install Batteries in Sensor Pad
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the Wireless Movement Sensor Pad.
- Open the compartment cover.
- Insert the provided AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
4.2 Place Sensor Pad

Image: Illustration of the Angelcare AC017 setup, with the Sensor Pad positioned under the crib mattress and the Nursery Unit placed on a nearby surface.
- Place the Wireless Movement Sensor Pad directly on a firm, flat surface under the crib mattress.
- Ensure the Sensor Pad is centered under where the baby will sleep.
- For cribs with spring bases or slatted bases, a hardboard or plywood sheet (at least 1/4 inch thick) must be placed between the crib base and the Sensor Pad to ensure proper operation and prevent false alarms.
- Place the crib mattress on top of the Sensor Pad.
4.3 Position Nursery Unit
- Place the Nursery Unit on a flat surface near the crib, but out of the baby's reach.
- Connect the power adapter to the Nursery Unit and plug it into a wall outlet.
- Ensure the power cord is securely fastened and not accessible to the baby.
5. Operation
5.1 Powering On/Off
- To turn on the Nursery Unit, press and hold the power button until the indicator light illuminates.
- To turn off, press and hold the power button again until the indicator light turns off.
- The Sensor Pad automatically activates when movement is detected and goes into standby when no movement is present.
5.2 Movement Detection and Alarm
- Once the system is on and the baby is placed in the crib, the Nursery Unit will indicate movement detection (e.g., a flashing green light).
- If no movement is detected by the Sensor Pad for 20 seconds, an alarm will sound from the Nursery Unit.
- The alarm is designed to be loud to alert parents promptly.
5.3 Sensitivity Adjustment
The Sensor Pad has adjustable sensitivity levels. Refer to the Nursery Unit's controls to adjust the sensitivity. It is recommended to test the sensitivity after any adjustment to ensure it detects your baby's movements accurately without triggering false alarms from external vibrations.
5.4 Temporary Pause
When you remove your baby from the crib, remember to turn off or temporarily pause the monitor to prevent the alarm from sounding. Some models may have a pause feature; otherwise, power off the Nursery Unit.
6. Indicators
- Green Light (Nursery Unit): Indicates movement detection. A steady green light may indicate power on, while a flashing green light typically indicates detected movement.
- Red Light/Alarm (Nursery Unit): Indicates no movement detected for 20 seconds.
- Low Battery Indicator: The Nursery Unit will display a specific light pattern or sound an alert when the Sensor Pad batteries are low. Replace batteries promptly.
7. Care and Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
- Wipe the Nursery Unit and Sensor Pad with a dry, soft cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Do not immerse any part of the monitor in water.
7.2 Battery Replacement
When the low battery indicator activates, replace the AAA batteries in the Wireless Movement Sensor Pad. Use only new, high-quality batteries. Dispose of old batteries responsibly.
7.3 Storage
If storing the monitor for an extended period, remove all batteries from the Sensor Pad and store components in a cool, dry place.
8. Troubleshooting
- False Alarms:
- Ensure the Sensor Pad is on a firm, flat surface. Use a hardboard if necessary.
- Adjust the sensitivity level. Too high sensitivity can pick up external vibrations.
- Ensure no other devices or air currents are affecting the crib area.
- No Movement Detected (Alarm Sounds when Baby is Present):
- Check Sensor Pad placement; ensure it's centered under the baby.
- Increase the sensitivity level.
- Verify the Sensor Pad batteries are not low or depleted.
- Ensure the mattress is not too thick or heavy for the sensor to detect subtle movements.
- No Power to Nursery Unit:
- Check if the power adapter is securely plugged into the unit and the wall outlet.
- Test the wall outlet with another appliance.
- Interference/Poor Connection:
- Move the Nursery Unit closer to the Sensor Pad.
- Move other electronic devices away from the monitor.
