2. Safety Information
To ensure safe operation, observe the following safety precautions:
- Always ensure the multimeter is set to the correct function and range before making any measurements.
- Do not exceed the maximum input values specified for each range.
- Exercise extreme caution when working with voltages above 30V AC RMS, 42V peak, or 60V DC. These voltages pose a shock hazard.
- Inspect test leads for damage before each use. Do not use if insulation is compromised.
- Ensure the battery compartment is securely closed before operation.
- Do not operate the meter if it appears damaged or is not functioning properly.
- Always disconnect power to the circuit and discharge high-voltage capacitors before measuring resistance, continuity, diodes, or capacitance.
- Replace batteries promptly when the low battery indicator appears to maintain measurement accuracy.
3. Product Overview

4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
The ANENG AN8008 requires two 1.5V AAA batteries (not included) for operation.
- Ensure the multimeter is turned OFF.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
- Use a screwdriver to remove the screw securing the battery cover.
- Carefully remove the cover.
- Insert two 1.5V AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery cover and secure it with the screw.

4.2 Connecting Test Leads
The multimeter comes with a set of red and black test leads. The red lead is for positive (+) connections, and the black lead is for negative (-) or common (COM) connections.
- Insert the black test lead into the COM (Common) input jack.
- For voltage, resistance, frequency, capacitance, diode, and continuity measurements, insert the red test lead into the VΩHz input jack.
- For current measurements (mA or A), insert the red test lead into the appropriate mA or A input jack.

5. Operating Instructions
The ANENG AN8008 features a rotary switch to select the desired measurement function. Use the 'RANGE' button for manual range selection and 'SEL/HOLD' for function selection within a combined rotary switch position or to hold the current reading.
5.1 DC Voltage Measurement (V–)
- Set the rotary switch to the V– position.
- Connect the red test lead to the positive (+) side of the circuit and the black test lead to the negative (-) side.
- Read the voltage value on the display.
5.2 AC Voltage Measurement (V∼)
- Set the rotary switch to the V∼ position.
- Connect the test leads across the circuit or component to be measured.
- Read the voltage value on the display.
5.3 DC Current Measurement (A– / mA– / µA–)
- Turn off power to the circuit.
- Set the rotary switch to the appropriate A–, mA–, or µA– position.
- Insert the red test lead into the A or mA input jack, and the black lead into the COM jack.
- Break the circuit and connect the multimeter in series with the load.
- Apply power to the circuit.
- Read the current value on the display.
- Turn off power and disconnect the multimeter before restoring the circuit.
5.4 AC Current Measurement (A∼ / mA∼ / µA∼)
Follow the same procedure as DC Current Measurement, but select the appropriate A∼, mA∼, or µA∼ position on the rotary switch.
5.5 Resistance Measurement (Ω)
- Turn off power to the circuit and discharge any capacitors.
- Set the rotary switch to the Ω position.
- Connect the test leads across the component to be measured.
- Read the resistance value on the display.
5.6 Capacitance Measurement (F)
- Turn off power to the circuit and fully discharge the capacitor before measurement.
- Set the rotary switch to the F position.
- Connect the test leads across the capacitor.
- Read the capacitance value on the display.
5.7 Frequency and Duty Cycle Measurement (Hz / %)
- Set the rotary switch to the Hz position.
- Connect the test leads across the signal source.
- The display will show the frequency. Press the 'SEL/HOLD' button to toggle to duty cycle measurement.
5.8 Diode Test (→|–)
- Turn off power to the circuit and discharge any capacitors.
- Set the rotary switch to the →|– position.
- Connect the red test lead to the anode and the black test lead to the cathode of the diode.
- The display will show the forward voltage drop. Reverse the leads to check for open circuit (OL) for a good diode.
5.9 Continuity Test (♫)
- Turn off power to the circuit.
- Set the rotary switch to the ♫ position.
- Connect the test leads across the component or circuit path.
- If the resistance is below approximately 50Ω, the buzzer will sound, indicating continuity.
5.10 Square Wave Output
- Set the rotary switch to the Square Wave Output position.
- The multimeter can output a square wave at various frequencies (50Hz to 5000Hz).
- Connect the test leads to the output terminals to utilize this function.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Ensure the meter is completely dry before use.
6.2 Battery Replacement
When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries as described in Section 4.1. Always use two new 1.5V AAA batteries.
6.3 Fuse Replacement
If the current measurement function fails, the fuse may need replacement. Refer to the specifications for the correct fuse type and rating. Fuse replacement should only be performed by qualified personnel.
7. Troubleshooting
- No display or dim display: Check battery installation and charge. Replace batteries if necessary.
- "OL" (Overload) displayed: The measured value exceeds the selected range. Switch to a higher range or ensure the input is within the meter's capabilities.
- Incorrect readings: Verify test lead connections, ensure the correct function and range are selected, and check battery condition.
- No continuity beep: Ensure the meter is in continuity mode and the resistance is below the threshold (approx. 50Ω).
