This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Oster Flavor Programmable Coffeemaker. Please read this manual thoroughly before first use and keep it for future reference.

Important Safety Information

- Do not use a cracked carafe or a carafe having a loose or weakened handle.
- Do not clean carafe with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive material.

Components
Familiarize yourself with the parts of your Oster Flavor Programmable Coffeemaker:
- Water Reservoir: Holds water for brewing.
- Lid: Covers the water reservoir and filter basket area.
- Filter Basket: Holds the permanent filter or paper filter.
- Permanent Filter: Reusable filter for coffee grounds.
- Glass Carafe: 1.5L capacity, designed to hold up to 36 small cups (42ml each) of brewed coffee.
- Warming Plate: Keeps coffee warm after brewing for up to 2 hours.

Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully unpack the coffeemaker and remove all packaging materials.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the carafe, lid, and permanent filter in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffeemaker with a soft, damp cloth.
- First Brew Cycle (Cleaning):
- Fill the water reservoir with clean water up to the 1.5L mark.
- Place the empty permanent filter into the filter basket.
- Place the carafe on the warming plate.
- Plug the coffeemaker into a 110V electrical outlet.
- Press the "Select/Off" button to run a full brewing cycle with only water.
- Discard the water after the cycle is complete. This cleans the internal components.
- Setting the Clock:
- Press the "Hour" button to set the hour.
- Press the "Min" button to set the minutes.
- Ensure AM/PM is correctly set for the current time.
Operating Instructions
Brewing Coffee
- Open the lid and fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water to the desired level, indicated by the markings on the side.
- Place the permanent filter into the filter basket. If using a paper filter, insert a cone-shaped paper filter (size 4) into the filter basket.
- Add the desired amount of ground coffee to the filter. For best results, use 1 tablespoon of ground coffee per cup (42ml). Adjust to taste.
- Close the lid securely.
- Place the empty glass carafe on the warming plate.
- Press the "Select/Off" button to start brewing. The indicator light will illuminate.
- The coffeemaker will beep when the brewing cycle is complete. The warming plate will keep the coffee warm for up to 2 hours, after which it will automatically shut off.
Programming Delayed Brewing (Timer Function)
The programmable feature allows you to set a specific time for the coffeemaker to start brewing automatically.
- Prepare the coffeemaker for brewing as described in steps 1-5 above (water, coffee, filter, carafe).
- Press the "Program" button. The display will show "PROG".
- Use the "Hour" and "Min" buttons to set the desired delayed start time. Ensure AM/PM is correct.
- Press the "Program" button again to confirm the setting. The "PROG" indicator light will remain on.
- The coffeemaker will automatically start brewing at the programmed time.
Adjusting Coffee Intensity
The coffeemaker features an intensity selector to customize your coffee strength.
- Before starting a brew cycle, press the "Intensity" button.
- Toggle between "Strong" or "Regular" settings based on your preference. The selected intensity will be displayed.
Timer Function (Freshness Indicator)
The "Timer" function indicates how long the coffee has been ready since brewing completed.
- After brewing, the display will automatically switch to show the elapsed time since brewing finished.
- This feature helps you monitor the freshness of your coffee.
Maintenance
Daily Cleaning
- Always unplug the coffeemaker before cleaning and allow it to cool completely.
- Remove the permanent filter and filter basket. Discard coffee grounds.
- Wash the carafe, carafe lid, permanent filter, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are also top-rack dishwasher safe.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffeemaker, warming plate, and control panel with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Do not immerse the coffeemaker base in water or any other liquid.
Decalcification (Mineral Deposit Removal)
Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffeemaker and affect its performance. Decalcify regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use.
- Mix 4 cups of white vinegar with 6 cups of cold water in the carafe.
- Pour the mixture into the water reservoir.
- Place the empty permanent filter (or no filter) in the filter basket and close the lid.
- Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
- Press the "Select/Off" button to start a brewing cycle.
- After about 30 seconds, turn the coffeemaker off by pressing "Select/Off". Let it soak for 30 minutes.
- Turn the coffeemaker on again and let the cycle complete.
- Discard the vinegar solution.
- Run 2-3 full cycles with clean, cold water to rinse out any remaining vinegar smell or taste.
Troubleshooting
