3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking and Inspection

  1. Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Inspect all parts for any damage that may have occurred during shipping. Do not operate if damaged.
  3. Verify all components listed in the "What's in the Box" section are present.

3.2 Assembly

  1. Connect the Super-Flex Air Hose to the HVLP unit and the EDGE II spray gun. Ensure connections are tight.
  2. Attach the FlexLiner cup to the spray gun.
  3. Select the appropriate needle for your material. The #3 (1.3mm) needle is included for fine finishes.
  4. Ensure the filter is clean and properly installed in the unit.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Material Preparation

  1. Ensure your coating material is properly mixed and free of debris.
  2. Pour the prepared material into the FlexLiner bag within the cup. Do not overfill.

4.2 Adjusting Settings

  1. Turn on the HVLP unit.
  2. Use the TurboControl System dial to adjust the turbine speed. Higher speeds are generally for thicker materials or faster application.
  3. Adjust the material flow knob on the EDGE II gun to control the amount of material being sprayed.
  4. Test the spray pattern on a scrap piece of material to ensure desired coverage and finish.

4.3 Spraying Technique

  • Maintain a consistent distance from the surface (typically 6-10 inches).
  • Move the gun in smooth, even passes, overlapping each pass by about 50%.
  • Release the trigger at the end of each pass to avoid excessive material buildup.
  • The FlexLiner system allows spraying at various angles, including upside down, for hard-to-reach areas.

4.4 Changing Needles and Colors

  • To change needles, ensure the unit is off and depressurized. Follow the gun's instructions for needle removal and insertion.
  • For quick color changes, remove the current FlexLiner bag and replace it with a new one containing the desired color. This minimizes cleanup between colors.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Sprayer

  1. After each use, disconnect the power.
  2. Remove the FlexLiner bag and dispose of any remaining material properly.
  3. Clean the spray gun thoroughly with appropriate cleaning solution (water for latex, solvent for oil-based paints).
  4. Clean the needle and air cap.
  5. Rinse the FlexLiner cup if reusing, or dispose of it.
  6. Clean the exterior of the HVLP unit.

5.2 Filter Maintenance

  • Regularly inspect the standard filtration system filter.
  • Clean the washable filter as needed to maintain optimal airflow and prevent motor strain.
  • Replace the filter if it shows signs of damage or excessive wear.
