2. Setup & Installation
2.1 Pre-Installation Check
Before beginning the installation, ensure that this kit is compatible with your specific vehicle model and transmission type. This kit is designed for 2008-2012 Dodge Caliber vehicles with automatic transmission only. Verify that your vehicle is a gas model.
Important Note: This kit does not include any OEM key fob or OEM remote. It utilizes your vehicle's existing factory key fobs.

2.2 Installation Process
The MPC Remote Start Kit features a Plug & Play T-Harness design, which significantly simplifies the installation process by reducing the number of required wiring connections. Most connections are made by simply plugging in the T-Harness.
Required Connections:
- Plug-in Connections: The primary connections are made using the provided T-Harness, which plugs directly into existing vehicle harnesses.
- Ground Connection: A single ground connection is typically required.
- Optional Connections: Additional optional connections, such as for a hood switch or valet switch, may be available depending on your specific setup.
MPC provides a detailed, copyrighted installation tip sheet with precise instructions and plug locations to guide you through the process. This resource is designed to assist individuals with basic knowledge of car electronics in successfully installing the product.

3. Operation
3.1 Remote Start Activation
To activate the remote start function, use your vehicle's existing factory key fob. Press the Lock button three (3) times consecutively. The vehicle's engine will start, and the doors will remain locked.
The vehicle will run for a preset duration (typically 15 minutes) or until the remote start sequence is cancelled.
3.2 Entering the Vehicle After Remote Start
Once the engine is running via remote start:
- Unlock the vehicle doors using your factory key fob.
- Enter the vehicle.
- Insert your key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" or "RUN" position (do not turn to "START" as the engine is already running).
- The remote start system will disengage, and the vehicle will transfer control to the key. You are now ready to drive.
3.3 Cancelling Remote Start
To cancel the remote start before the preset run time expires, simply press the Lock button three (3) times consecutively on your factory key fob again, or insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position.
3.4 Available Options (Additional Cost)
The MPC Remote Start Kit is compatible with several optional add-ons to enhance functionality:
- Smartphone Interface Module (U.S. ONLY): Allows control of the remote start system via a smartphone application.
- CSRF Kit 1 Ready: Enables the addition of 1-button remote controls.
- CSRF Kit 4 Ready: Enables the addition of 5-button remote controls.

4. Maintenance
The MPC Remote Start Kit is designed to be a low-maintenance system. The main module and wiring harnesses do not require routine maintenance or user-serviceable parts.
It is recommended to periodically check all connections to ensure they remain secure, especially after significant vehicle vibrations or impacts. If any wiring appears damaged, it should be inspected and repaired by a qualified technician.
Regular vehicle maintenance, as recommended by your vehicle manufacturer, should continue as normal. The remote start system operates independently of most routine vehicle service requirements.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your MPC Remote Start Kit, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- System Not Responding:
- Ensure your vehicle's battery is adequately charged.
- Verify that you are pressing the Lock button three times consecutively on your factory key fob within a short timeframe.
- Check the range of your factory key fob. Obstructions or distance can affect signal transmission.
- Engine Starts but Shuts Off Immediately:
- This could indicate an issue with the immobilizer bypass. Ensure all connections related to the immobilizer module are secure.
- Verify that the firmware is correctly loaded for your specific vehicle.
- No Response After Installation:
- Double-check all T-Harness connections to ensure they are fully seated.
- Confirm that the ground connection is secure and properly made to a bare metal surface.
- Review the installation tip sheet for any missed steps or specific vehicle requirements.
- Vehicle Does Not Transfer to Key:
- Ensure the key is fully inserted and turned to the "ON" or "RUN" position without attempting to "START" the already running engine.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact MPC Technical Support for further assistance (see Section 6).
