  1. Place both earbuds into the charging case. Ensure the charging contacts align.
  2. Connect the Micro USB charging cable to the port on the back of the charging case and to a power source (e.g., USB wall adapter, computer USB port).

4.2. Fitting the Earbuds

Proper fit is crucial for sound quality and secure wear. The JBL Free comes with multiple sizes of silicone ear tips and gel sleeves to ensure a comfortable and stable fit.

  1. Choose Ear Tips: Select the silicone ear tip size (S, M, L) that creates a snug seal in your ear canal. Experiment with different sizes to find the best fit for both ears.
  2. Add Gel Sleeves: For added security, especially during active use, attach the appropriate size gel sleeve (M, L) over the earbud. The gel sleeve helps to anchor the earbud in the outer ear.
  3. Insert Earbuds: Gently insert the earbuds into your ears, twisting slightly to ensure a secure and comfortable position. The 'L' and 'R' markings on the underside indicate left and right.

4.3. Bluetooth Pairing

Pair your JBL Free headphones with your Bluetooth-enabled device.

  1. First Time Pairing:
    • Remove the right earbud from the charging case. It will automatically enter pairing mode, indicated by a flashing blue LED.
    • On your device, go to Bluetooth settings and select "JBL Free" from the list of available devices.
    • Once connected, the right earbud's LED will turn solid blue.
    • Remove the left earbud from the case. It will automatically connect to the right earbud.
  2. Manual Pairing (if needed):
    • With both earbuds in the charging case, open the lid.
    • Press and hold the button on the right earbud for 5 seconds until the LED flashes blue.

5.3. Splashproof Design (IPX5)

The JBL Free headphones feature an IPX5 splashproof design, meaning they are resistant to water splashes from any direction. This makes them suitable for workouts and outdoor activities where they might be exposed to sweat or light rain. Do not submerge the headphones in water. The charging case is not water-resistant.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

  • Regularly clean the ear tips and gel sleeves with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Wipe the earbuds and charging case with a dry, soft cloth.
  • Ensure charging contacts on both earbuds and case are clean and dry to prevent charging issues. Use a dry cotton swab if necessary.
  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
