5. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper setup and installation. It is recommended to have a qualified professional perform the gas connection.

5.1 Firebox Requirements

Ensure your firebox meets the minimum size requirements:

5.2 Gas Connection

The log set is designed for dual fuel operation (Natural Gas or Liquid Propane). Ensure the gas supply is turned off before making any connections. Connect the gas line to the U-burner chassis according to local codes and manufacturer instructions. A qualified technician should perform this step.

5.3 Log Placement

Carefully arrange the 9 ceramic logs on the U-burner chassis. The logs are designed to fit together in a specific pattern to optimize flame appearance and heat distribution. Refer to the log placement diagram provided in the separate detailed instruction sheet for your specific model. Incorrect log placement can affect performance and safety.

5.4 Ember Material Application

Distribute the included bag of glowing ember material evenly over the burner pan, ensuring not to block any burner ports. This material enhances the realistic glowing effect of the fire.

5.5 Piezo Ignition Battery

Install the included 1 AAA battery into the electronic Piezo ignition system. This battery powers the ignition for easy startup.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Ignition

  1. Ensure the gas supply is turned on.
  2. Locate the Piezo ignition button and the control knob on the unit.
  3. Press and hold the control knob while turning it to the PILOT position.
  4. While holding the knob, repeatedly press the Piezo ignition button until the pilot flame ignites. Continue to hold the control knob for 30-60 seconds after ignition to ensure the thermocouple is heated.
  5. Once the pilot is stable, release the control knob. If the pilot extinguishes, repeat the process.
  6. To ignite the main burner, turn the control knob from the PILOT position to the desired heat setting.

6.2 Thermostat Control

This log set features thermostat control to maintain a consistent room temperature. Once the main burner is lit, you can adjust the control knob to your preferred heat setting. The unit will automatically cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature.

6.3 Shutting Down the Unit

  1. To turn off the main burner, turn the control knob to the PILOT position. The pilot flame will remain lit.
  2. To completely shut off the unit, turn the control knob to the OFF position. It is recommended to turn off the main gas supply valve if the unit will not be used for an extended period.
