Setup

Follow these steps to set up your METIS-10M speaker:

  1. Placement: Position the monitor speaker on the stage floor, angled towards the performer or desired listening area. Ensure it is stable and not obstructing any pathways.
  2. Connect to Amplifier: Using a high-quality speaker cable, connect one end to an output on your power amplifier.
  3. Connect to Speaker: Connect the other end of the speaker cable to either the Speakon input or one of the 1/4" TS inputs on the rear panel of the METIS-10M speaker.
  4. Daisy Chaining (Optional): If connecting multiple passive speakers, use another speaker cable to connect from the second 1/4" TS input/output on the first METIS-10M to the input of the next passive speaker. Ensure your amplifier can handle the combined impedance.
  5. Power On: Once all connections are secure, power on your amplifier. Start with the amplifier's volume at its lowest setting and gradually increase it to the desired level.

Operating Instructions

The METIS-10M is a passive speaker, meaning its operation is primarily controlled by the external amplifier and mixing console. Ensure your amplifier is correctly configured for the speaker's 8-ohm impedance.

  • Volume Control: Adjust the overall volume through your amplifier or mixing console. Avoid pushing the amplifier into clipping (distortion) to prevent speaker damage.
  • Equalization: Use the EQ controls on your mixing console or amplifier to tailor the sound to your preference and the acoustic environment.
  • Feedback Prevention: Position microphones carefully to avoid feedback when using the monitor speaker. Adjust monitor levels as needed.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance will extend the life of your speaker:

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe the exterior with a dry, soft cloth to remove dust and debris. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the speaker in a dry, cool environment, away from extreme temperatures and humidity.
  • Inspection: Periodically check speaker cables and connectors for any signs of wear or damage. Replace damaged cables immediately.
  • Transport: When transporting, use the recessed side handles and ensure the speaker is secured to prevent movement and impact damage.
