5. Operating Instructions

  1. Ensure the nebulizer is correctly assembled and connected to a power source as described in the Setup section.
  2. Turn on the nebulizer unit using the power switch located on the device. The compressor will begin to produce a fine mist from the nebulizer cup.
  3. Place the mask over your nose and mouth, or hold the mouthpiece between your teeth, or insert the nasal fork into your nostrils.
  4. Breathe normally and deeply through the attached accessory until all the medication has been nebulized. The Fasterjet system with 'breath enhanced' valves will optimize medication delivery during inhalation.
  5. The treatment typically lasts between 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the volume of medication and the nebulization rate.
  6. Once the medication is fully nebulized and no more mist is visible, turn off the unit using the power switch.
  7. Disconnect the device from the electrical outlet.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the hygiene, efficiency, and longevity of your nebulizer.

After Each Use:

  1. Disconnect the nebulizer cup, mouthpiece/mask, and air tube from the compressor unit.
  2. Wash the nebulizer cup, mouthpiece/mask, and nasal fork with warm water and a mild detergent.
  3. Rinse these components thoroughly with clean water to remove all detergent residue.
  4. Allow all parts to air dry completely on a clean surface before reassembling or storing.

Periodical Disinfection:

  • Disinfect the nebulizer cup, masks, mouthpiece, and nasal fork periodically by boiling them in water for 5 minutes or by using a cold sterilization solution recommended by your physician or pharmacist.
  • Ensure all parts are completely dry before storage.

Compressor Unit Cleaning:

  • Wipe the exterior of the compressor unit with a clean, damp cloth.
  • Do not immerse the compressor unit in water or any other liquid.

Air Filter Replacement:

  • Check the air filter regularly. Replace it when it appears discolored or every 30-60 days of use, or as recommended by the manufacturer.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your GIMA Myneb Nebulizer, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:

  • Device Does Not Turn On:
    • Ensure the power adapter is securely plugged into both the nebulizer unit and a working electrical outlet.
    • Check that the power switch on the unit is in the 'ON' position.
    • Verify the electrical outlet is functional by plugging in another appliance.
  • No Mist or Weak Mist Production:
    • Check the medication level in the nebulizer cup. Ensure there is sufficient medication.
    • Verify that all connections, including the air tube to the compressor and the nebulizer cup, are secure and airtight.
    • Disassemble and clean the nebulizer cup and accessories thoroughly as per the Maintenance and Cleaning instructions. Blockages can reduce mist production.
    • Check the air filter. A dirty or clogged filter can restrict airflow. Replace if necessary.
  • Unusual Noise or Vibration:
    • Turn off the device immediately.
    • Ensure the unit is placed on a stable, flat surface.
    • If the noise persists, contact GIMA customer support for assistance. Do not attempt to repair the unit yourself.
