7. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your SMALLRIG camera cage, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Wipe the cage regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Screw Check: Periodically inspect all screws (1/4"-20 and M2.5) to ensure they are securely tightened. Loose screws can lead to instability or damage.
- Storage: Store the cage in a dry, clean environment away from extreme temperatures and humidity when not in use.
8. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter:
- Camera Wobble: If you experience any wobble after installation, ensure both the 1/4"-20 bottom screw and the two M2.5 side screws are fully tightened. This cage version (CCP2646) includes design improvements to minimize wobble.
- Difficulty Accessing Power Switch: Due to the cage's protective frame, some users with larger fingers might find the camera's on/off switch slightly less accessible. This is a design characteristic to maintain structural integrity and protection.
- Restricted Remote Socket: The remote socket area might be slightly restricted for certain angled plugs. Ensure your cables have appropriate connectors or consider straight-angled alternatives if needed.
