• Lower Speeds: Ideal for cutting metals, plastics, and delicate materials to prevent overheating and melting.
• Higher Speeds: Suitable for faster cutting in wood and softer materials.

5.4. Making a Cut

1. Start Position: Place the front edge of the jig saw's base plate flat on the workpiece, ensuring the blade is clear of the material.
2. Start the Tool: Turn on the jig saw and allow it to reach full speed before engaging the blade with the material.
3. Begin Cutting: Gently guide the blade into the material along your marked line. Apply steady, even pressure. Do not force the tool; let the blade do the work.

For internal cuts without a pilot hole, tilt the jig saw forward so the front edge of the base plate rests on the workpiece and the blade is above the surface. Start the tool, then slowly pivot the tool downwards until the blade plunges through the material. Once through, flatten the base plate and proceed with the cut.
