1. Introduction

The Whitmor Wall Mounted Drying Rack is designed to provide a convenient and space-saving solution for air-drying laundry. This rack utilizes empty wall space and features multiple adjustable levels, making it suitable for various garments. When not in use, it folds flat against the wall for discreet storage.

2. Safety Information

  • Do not exceed the maximum weight limit of 40 pounds (18.1 kg) on the drying rack.
  • Ensure the rack is securely mounted to a wall stud or using appropriate anchors for drywall to prevent detachment and potential injury.
  • Keep children and pets away from the drying rack during operation to prevent accidents.
  • Regularly inspect all components for signs of wear, damage, or loose connections. Discontinue use if any damage is observed.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present before beginning assembly:

  • Wall Mounted Drying Rack Assembly
  • Mounting Hardware (screws, anchors)
  • Installation Template

4. Setup & Installation

Required Tools:

  • Drill with 1/4" bit
  • Phillips Head Screwdriver
  • Level (recommended)

Installation Steps:

  1. Select Location: Choose a suitable wall location, preferably near a laundry area, ensuring sufficient clearance for the rack to extend fully.
  2. Position Template: Use the provided installation template to mark the desired mounting holes on the wall. Ensure the template is level before marking.
  3. Drill Pilot Holes: Using a drill with a 1/4" bit, drill pilot holes at the marked locations. If mounting into drywall without a stud, insert the appropriate wall anchors (included) into the pilot holes.
  4. Mount Rack: Align the drying rack with the drilled holes. Insert the mounting screws through the rack's mounting points and into the pilot holes/anchors. Tighten securely with a Phillips head screwdriver until the rack is firmly attached to the wall. Do not overtighten.

5. Operating Instructions

The Whitmor Wall Mounted Drying Rack is designed for ease of use and versatility.

  1. Opening the Rack: Gently pull the front frame of the drying rack downwards. It will pivot on its hinges.
  2. Adjusting Levels: The rack features a metal support rod that can be hooked into three different slots on the side of the main frame. Select the desired height/angle for drying by placing the support rod into the corresponding slot.
  3. Hanging Clothes: Once the rack is open and secured at the desired level, hang items over the horizontal rods. The rack is suitable for delicates, swimsuits, towels, and other items requiring air drying.
  4. Closing the Rack: To close, lift the front frame upwards. Disengage the metal support rod from its slot. Continue lifting the front frame until it is flush with the wall. Magnets at the top of the frame will secure it in the closed position.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the rack surfaces with a soft, damp cloth as needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that may damage the finish.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all screws and connections to ensure they remain tight. Re-tighten if necessary. Inspect the support rods and hinges for any signs of bending or damage.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Rack does not stay open: Ensure the metal support rod is correctly engaged in one of the three adjustment slots. Check for any obstructions preventing the rod from seating properly.
  • Rack does not close flush: Verify that no items are caught within the rack mechanism. Check the hinges for proper alignment and ensure the magnets at the top are unobstructed.
  • Rack feels unstable: Re-check all mounting screws and wall anchors for tightness. Ensure the rack is mounted into a sturdy surface, preferably a wall stud.
