The RYOBI 18V ONE+ system allows you to use the same 18V battery across more than 200 compatible tools, offering versatility and cost-effectiveness. The included fast charger ensures your battery is ready for use quickly.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool battery and charger. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

2.1 General Safety Precautions

  • Always use the correct charger for the battery. Using an incompatible charger can lead to fire or explosion.
  • Do not charge batteries in damp or wet locations.
  • Do not expose batteries or chargers to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a battery or charger will increase the risk of electric shock or fire.
  • Do not incinerate the battery, even if it is severely damaged or completely worn out. The battery can explode in a fire.
  • Do not short-circuit a battery.
  • Do not store the battery where the temperature may reach or exceed 50°C (122°F).
  • Do not disassemble, open, or shred battery cells or packs.
  • Keep batteries out of reach of children.
  • Dispose of used batteries properly according to local regulations.

2.2 Charger Specific Safety

  • This charger is designed for charging RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium-ion batteries only. Do not attempt to charge other types of batteries.
  • Ensure the charger is connected to a power supply with the correct voltage as indicated on the charger label.
  • Unplug the charger from the power supply when not in use or before cleaning.
  • Do not operate the charger if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, or otherwise damaged.

The 4.0Ah Lithium-ion battery provides extended runtime for your tools, while the fast charger ensures minimal downtime.

4. Setup

4.1 Initial Battery Charge

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the battery.

  1. Plug the charger into a standard electrical outlet. The charger's indicator lights may briefly illuminate.
  2. Align the battery with the charging port on the charger. Ensure the battery slides in smoothly until it clicks into place.
  3. The charger's indicator lights will show the charging status. For this fast charger, there are 4 LEDs, each representing 25% of the charge. They will illuminate progressively as the battery charges.
  4. Once all 4 LEDs are steadily lit, the battery is fully charged. This typically takes approximately 120 minutes (2 hours) for a 4.0Ah battery.
  5. Remove the battery from the charger by pressing the release latches (if present) and sliding it out.

The IntelliPort Charging System on the charger helps optimize battery life by preventing overcharging and overheating.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Charging the Battery

Refer to Section 4.1 for detailed battery charging instructions. Always ensure the battery is securely seated in the charger.

5.2 Using the Battery with RYOBI ONE+ Tools

The 18V ONE+ battery is designed for seamless integration with all RYOBI 18V ONE+ tools.

  1. Ensure the tool is turned off and disconnected from any power source before inserting or removing the battery.
  2. Align the battery with the battery port on your RYOBI ONE+ tool.
  3. Slide the battery into the tool until it clicks securely into place. A firm click indicates proper connection.
  4. To remove the battery, press the battery release button(s) on the tool and slide the battery out.

The battery features IntelliCell Technology, which provides a charge level indicator directly on the battery, allowing you to monitor its status during use. This technology also ensures consistent performance and protection against overcharging and overheating.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

  • Keep the battery and charger clean and free of debris. Use a dry, soft cloth to wipe surfaces.
  • Do not use water, solvents, or harsh chemicals to clean the battery or charger.
  • Regularly inspect the charging terminals on both the battery and charger for dirt or damage.

6.2 Storage

  • Store the battery and charger in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • For long-term storage, it is recommended to store Lithium-ion batteries with a partial charge (around 50%).
  • Do not store the battery in a discharged state for extended periods, as this can damage the battery cells.
  • Keep the battery and charger away from corrosive materials.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your RYOBI battery and charger.
