1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Tristar KA-5061 Industrial Ceramic Heater. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your new heater. Please read these instructions carefully before use and retain them for future reference.

The Tristar KA-5061 is a versatile industrial ceramic heater designed for both heating and cooling applications. It features two heat settings and a fan-only function, making it suitable for various environments such as workshops, garages, or as supplementary heating in larger rooms.

2. Important Safety Instructions

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, always follow these basic precautions.

  • Read all instructions before using this heater.
  • Do not use this heater in bathrooms, laundry areas, or similar indoor locations where it may come into contact with water.
  • Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug, or after the heater malfunctions, has been dropped, or damaged in any manner.
  • Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Arrange cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.
  • To disconnect heater, turn controls to OFF, then remove plug from outlet.
  • Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
  • To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may become blocked.
  • This heater has hot parts inside. Do not use it in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored.
  • Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • Always plug heaters directly into a wall outlet/receptacle. Never use with an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip).
  • The heater is equipped with an IPX4 rating, providing protection against splashing water. However, it should not be submerged or exposed to direct water jets.
  • Features tip-over protection, which automatically shuts off the unit if it is accidentally knocked over.
  • Includes overheat protection to prevent damage from excessive temperatures.

4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking

  1. Carefully remove the heater from its packaging.
  2. Check for any signs of damage during transit. If damaged, do not operate and contact your retailer.
  3. Ensure all components are present: heater unit and user manual.

4.2 Placement

Proper placement is crucial for safety and performance.

  • Place the heater on a firm, level surface to ensure stability.
  • Maintain a minimum distance of 1 meter (3 feet) from walls, furniture, curtains, and other flammable materials.
  • Ensure the heater is not placed directly below a power outlet.
  • The heater is suitable for rooms up to 35 m² (85 m³).
  • Adjust the angle of the heater by loosening the side knobs, tilting the unit to the desired position (up to 25 degrees), and then tightening the knobs securely.

4.3 Power Connection

  • Ensure the heater is switched off before plugging it in.
  • Plug the power cord directly into a grounded 240V AC electrical outlet. Do not use extension cords or power strips.

5. Operating Instructions

The Tristar KA-5061 features two control knobs on the top panel.

5.1 Function Selector Knob (Left Knob)

This knob controls the operating mode of the heater.

  • OFF (0): Turns the heater completely off.
  • FAN ONLY (Fan Icon): Activates the fan without heating, providing cool air circulation.
  • LOW HEAT (I - 1500W): Provides 1500 Watts of heating power.
  • HIGH HEAT (II - 3000W): Provides 3000 Watts of heating power for maximum warmth.

5.2 Thermostat Control Knob (Right Knob)

This knob allows you to set the desired room temperature.

  • Turn the knob clockwise towards 'MAX' for higher temperatures.
  • Turn the knob counter-clockwise towards 'MIN' for lower temperatures.
  • The heater will cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature.

5.3 Initial Use

When using the heater for the first time, a slight odor may be noticeable. This is normal and will dissipate after a short period of operation as manufacturing residues burn off. Ensure adequate ventilation during initial use.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your heater.

6.1 Cleaning

  • Always unplug the heater and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  • Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove dust from the air intake and exhaust grilles.
  • Never immerse the heater in water or any other liquid.

6.2 Storage

  • If storing the heater for an extended period, ensure it is clean and dry.
  • Store the heater in its original packaging or a suitable container in a cool, dry place.
  • Do not place heavy objects on top of the heater during storage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your heater, refer to the following table before contacting customer support.
