Introduction

The SYLVANIA SMART+ Bluetooth Indoor Full Color Flexible Light Strip offers a versatile lighting solution that connects directly to Apple HomeKit via Bluetooth on compatible iOS devices. This kit allows for personalized lighting experiences with over 16 million colors and adjustable white color temperatures ranging from 2700K to 6500K. Control your lighting through the Apple Home app or Siri voice commands, and create schedules and automations for enhanced convenience and security. No additional hub is required for initial setup.

Setup Instructions

1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all items from the packaging. You will find three sections of the flexible LED light strip, a power adapter, and a controller box.
2. Connect Light Strip Sections: The light strip comes in three 24-inch sections. These sections can be connected together to form a longer strip. Each section has a male connector on one end and a female connector on the other. Ensure the pins align correctly when connecting. If you do not need the full length, you can use fewer sections or trim the strips at designated scissor marks.
3. Connect to Controller: Attach the assembled light strip to the controller box. Pay attention to the labels (RGB) on the connectors to ensure correct orientation.
4. Connect Power: Plug the power adapter into the controller box, then plug the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
5. Prepare for Pairing: Once powered on, the light strip will flash blue, red, and green before turning white, indicating it is ready for pairing. If it does not flash, refer to the troubleshooting section for reset instructions.
6. Open Apple Home App: On your compatible iOS device, open the Apple Home app. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device.
7. Add Accessory: Tap the '+' icon in the upper right corner of the screen, then select 'Add Accessory'.
8. Scan HomeKit Code: Use your device's camera to scan the 8-digit HomeKit setup code located on the controller box or on the user manual. Alternatively, you can manually enter the code. The light strip will blink four times to confirm selection.

Operating Instructions

Once your Sylvania Smart+ Flexible LED Light Strip is set up with Apple HomeKit, you can control it using various methods:

• Apple Home App: Use the Home app on your iPhone or iPad to turn lights on/off, change colors (over 16 million options), adjust brightness (dim 10-100%), and set white color temperature (2700K to 6500K).
• Siri Voice Control: Control your lights hands-free by using Siri. Examples: "Hey Siri, turn on the Office Desk Light," "Hey Siri, set the kitchen lights to blue," or "Hey Siri, dim the living room lights to 50%."
• Automations and Scenes: Create custom scenes (e.g., "Movie Night" with dimmed, warm lights) and automations (e.g., lights turn on at sunset, change color for bedtime) within the Apple Home app. A Home Hub (HomePod, Apple TV, or iPad) is required for remote control, scheduling, and advanced automations.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: Gently wipe the light strip with a dry, soft cloth to remove dust. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
• Adhesive: The light strip features 3M adhesive on the back for installation. For optimal adhesion, ensure the surface is clean, dry, and smooth before application. If the adhesive weakens over time, additional mounting clips or stronger adhesive may be required.
• Trimming: If shortening the strip is necessary, cut only at the designated scissor marks to avoid damaging the LEDs.

Troubleshooting

• Light Strip Not Flashing Colors During Setup: If the light strip does not flash blue, red, and green upon powering on, it may need to be reset. Power the strip off and on five times consecutively, waiting a few seconds between each cycle. The strip should then flash colors, indicating it's ready for pairing.
• Cannot Connect to Apple HomeKit: Ensure your iOS device's Bluetooth is on and you are within close proximity to the light strip. Verify the HomeKit code is entered correctly. If issues persist, try resetting the light strip and attempting the pairing process again.
• Remote Control/Automations Not Working: A Home Hub (Apple TV, HomePod, or a dedicated iPad) is required to enable remote control and advanced automations. Ensure your Home Hub is set up, powered on, and connected to your home network.
