3. Setup
3.1 Assembly
The Kenmore 81414 requires minimal assembly. Follow these steps to prepare your vacuum for use:
- Unpack all components from the packaging.
- Connect the flexible hose to the main canister unit by inserting it firmly into the designated port until it clicks into place.
- Attach the telescoping wand to the end of the hose. Ensure a firm connection for optimal suction.
- Connect the desired cleaning head (e.g., power nozzle or bare floor tool) to the end of the telescoping wand.
- Ensure the dust bag is correctly installed inside the canister. Refer to Section 5.2 for bag replacement instructions.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power and Cord Management
The vacuum features a 26-foot retractable power cord for extended reach. To extend the cord, pull it gently from the back of the unit. To retract, press the cord rewind button located on the canister. Ensure the cord is fully extended before use to prevent overheating.

4.2 Attachments and Versatility
Your Kenmore vacuum comes with several tools for specialized cleaning tasks:
- Bare Floor Tool: Ideal for thorough cleaning of hard wood, linoleum, and tile without scratching.

4.3 Floor Type and Height Adjustment
The vacuum is designed to clean all surfaces from hardwood and laminate to pile carpet with ease. It features 4 height adjustments to provide optimal airflow and cleaning efficiency for any surface. Adjust the height using the foot pedal on the power nozzle.

5. Maintenance
5.1 HEPA Filtration System
The Kenmore 81414 features an enhanced Triple HEPA certified filtration system that captures 99.97% of debris, including dander, dust particles, odors, pollen, and bacteria as small as 0.3 microns. Regularly check and clean or replace the HEPA filter to maintain optimal performance and air quality.

5.2 Bag Replacement
The vacuum uses Kenmore Style Q Canister Cloth HEPA Vacuum Bags (compatible with 53291 and 53292). A 'Check Bag' indicator on the unit will alert you when the bag needs to be changed. Routinely changing the vacuum bag is crucial to prevent motor damage and maintain suction strength.
6. Troubleshooting
