4. Setup & Installation

The LoraTap Wireless Switch Kit is designed for straightforward installation. No complex wiring or smart home hubs are required. Each kit is pre-paired for your convenience.

4.1. Relay Receiver Installation

The relay receiver must be wired between the power supply and the lamp/appliance you wish to control. Ensure the power is OFF before beginning installation.

  1. Turn off Power: Before any electrical work, ensure the main power supply to the circuit is turned off at the circuit breaker.
  2. Identify Wires: Locate the live (hot) wire and neutral wire from your power source, and the corresponding wires leading to your lamp or appliance. A neutral wire is necessary for the receiver to function.
  3. Connect Input Wires: Connect the live (hot) wire from the power source to the 'L' input terminal on the receiver and the neutral wire from the power source to the 'N' input terminal.
  4. Connect Output Wires: Connect the live (hot) wire leading to your lamp/appliance to the 'L' output terminal on the receiver and the neutral wire leading to your lamp/appliance to the 'N' output terminal.
  5. Secure Connections: Ensure all wire connections are secure.
  6. Mount Receiver: Place the relay receiver inside the electrical box or fixture where it is being installed. Its compact size allows it to fit in most standard junction boxes.
  7. Restore Power: Once all connections are secure and the receiver is safely housed, restore power at the circuit breaker.

The diagram illustrates how to connect the hot and neutral wires from the AC input to the receiver, and then from the receiver's output to the lamp or load. Examples of compatible loads include various types of ceiling lights, chandeliers, track lighting, and even a garden water pump.

4.2. Remote Switch Placement

The remote switch offers versatile placement options:

  • Portable Use: The remote switch is lightweight and can be carried and used anywhere within its signal range.
  • Wall Mounting: Use the included magnetic switch base and double-sided tape to affix the remote to any flat surface, such as a wall, functioning as a traditional wall switch. The remote can then be easily detached from the magnetic base for portable use.

5. Operation

Operating the LoraTap Wireless Lights Switch Kit is simple and intuitive.

  • Turning On: Press the "ON" button on the remote switch to turn on the connected lamp or appliance.
  • Turning Off: Press the "OFF" button on the remote switch to turn off the connected lamp or appliance.
  • Memory Function: The receiver is equipped with a memory function. If power is interrupted and then restored, the receiver will remember its previous ON/OFF state and return to it.

5.1. Flexible Pairing Options

The LoraTap system offers flexible pairing configurations to suit various needs:

  • Multiple Remotes to One Receiver: Up to 5 remote switches can be paired with a single relay receiver. This allows for control of one light/appliance from multiple locations (e.g., different entry points to a room).
  • One Remote to Multiple Receivers: A single remote switch can control up to 20 relay receivers. This enables simultaneous control of multiple lights or appliances with one press (e.g., turning off all lights in a house).
  • Non-Interference: Each LoraTap kit has a unique ID, ensuring that multiple kits can be used in the same area without signal interference.

Figure 5.1: Flexible Pairing Configurations. This diagram visually explains how multiple remote switches can control a single receiver, how a single remote can control multiple receivers, and confirms that the system supports flexible pairing without interference, even when multiple units are used in the same space.

6. Maintenance

The LoraTap Wireless Lights Switch Kit requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the remote switch and receiver with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: The remote switch uses a CR2032 battery with an estimated lifetime of up to 10 years. If the remote's indicator light does not illuminate or its range decreases significantly, it may be time to replace the battery. Use the included screwdriver to open the remote and replace the battery, ensuring correct polarity.
