Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Coffee does not brew. Coffee maker not plugged in; START/STOP not pressed; water reservoir empty; carafe not properly seated. Ensure unit is plugged in; press START/STOP; fill water reservoir; ensure carafe is correctly placed on warming plate.
Coffee is too weak or too strong. Incorrect coffee-to-water ratio; 1-4 CUP mode not used for small batches. Adjust coffee grounds amount; use 1-4 CUP mode for 1-4 cups of coffee.
Water overflows from filter basket. Too much coffee grounds; filter not properly seated; carafe removed for too long during brewing. Reduce coffee grounds; ensure filter is correctly placed; return carafe quickly during pause and serve.
Coffee has an off-taste. Mineral buildup; old charcoal filter; stale coffee. Perform descaling procedure; replace charcoal filter; use fresh coffee grounds.
