Setup

1. Unpacking and Initial Cleaning

• Remove all packaging materials and promotional labels from your coffee maker.
• Wash the glass carafe, lid, and reusable filter in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
• Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.

2. Installing the Charcoal Water Filter

• Soak the charcoal water filter in cold tap water for 15 minutes.
• Insert the charcoal filter into the filter holder.
• Place the assembled filter holder into the designated slot in the water reservoir.

3. First Use (Cleaning Cycle)

• Fill the water reservoir to the 12-cup mark with fresh, cold water.
• Place the empty filter basket with the gold tone filter (or a paper filter) into the brew head.
• Place the empty glass carafe on the warming plate.
• Press the START/STOP button to run a full brew cycle with only water.
• Discard the water from the carafe. Your coffee maker is now ready for use.

Operating Instructions

1. Setting the Clock

The digital control panel features an LED display for time and brew settings, along with buttons for setting the clock, programming auto-on, selecting 1-4 cup mode, and starting/stopping the brewing process.

• Plug in the coffee maker. The digital display will flash "12:00".
• Press the HR button to set the hour. Hold to advance quickly.
• Press the MIN button to set the minute. Hold to advance quickly.
• The clock is set once you stop pressing the buttons.

2. Brewing Coffee

The external water level indicator on the side of the coffee maker allows for precise filling of the water reservoir, with clear markings for up to 12 cups.

1. Ensure the coffee maker is plugged in and the clock is set.
2. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water using the external water gauge for desired cups. Do not exceed the 12-cup MAX line.
3. Place the gold tone reusable filter into the filter basket. If using a paper filter, ensure it is properly seated.
4. Add desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. A general guideline is 1 tablespoon of coffee per cup, adjust to taste.
5. Close the water reservoir lid securely.
6. Place the empty glass carafe on the warming plate.
7. Press the START/STOP button to begin brewing. The indicator light will illuminate.
8. The coffee maker will beep when brewing is complete, and the warming plate will keep coffee hot for 2 hours before automatically shutting off.

3. Programmable Auto-On Feature

• Follow steps 1-6 for brewing coffee, but do not press START/STOP.
• Press the PROG button. The display will show "PROG" and flash "12:00".
• Use the HR and MIN buttons to set your desired auto-on time.
• Press the AUTO ON button. The indicator light will illuminate, confirming the auto-on feature is set.
• The coffee maker will automatically start brewing at the programmed time.

4. 1-4 Cup Mode

Cleaning and Maintenance

1. Daily Cleaning

Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your coffee maker every 3-6 months, or more frequently in hard water areas.

1. Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water.
2. Place an empty paper filter (or the reusable filter) in the filter basket and the empty carafe on the warming plate.
3. Press the START/STOP button to begin a brew cycle.
4. After approximately 5 cups have brewed, press START/STOP to turn off the coffee maker.
5. Allow the mixture to soak for at least 15 minutes to soften deposits.
6. Press START/STOP again to complete the brew cycle. Discard the mixture.
