AQUANEAT BP-265

AQUANEAT 265 GPH Submersible Water Pump Instruction Manual

Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the AQUANEAT 265 GPH Submersible Water Pump (Model BP-265). This pump is designed for use in various water features including fresh/salt water aquariums, indoor and outdoor fountains, ponds, and hydroponic systems. It features an adjustable flow rate and is built for quiet, efficient operation.

Package Contents

Please verify that all items are present and in good condition upon opening the package:

  • (1) AQUANEAT 265 GPH Submersible Water Pump
  • (2) Outlet Adapters (5/16 inch and 1/2 inch ID)

Specifications

Max Flow Rate: 265 GPH (1000 L/H)
Recommended H-Max (Lift height): 2.5 feet (The pump operates on the principle that higher lift results in lower flow rate. 265 GPH is the theoretical flow rate at zero lift; actual output decreases with pipe resistance and lifting height.)
Voltage: 110 - 120 V @ 60 Hz
Power Cord Length: 6 feet
Outlet Compatibility: Fits 5/16 inch and 1/2 inch ID (inside diameter) tubing
Dimensions (L x W x H): 2.75" x 2" x 2.62"
Material: Plastic
Model Number: BP-265

Note: The maximum flow rate is 265 GPH, there might be a plus-minus tolerance. Every additional foot of pipe, valve and turn will reduce the flow rate. If the water sprays out the container, the flow rate would also be less than 265 GPH. The 4.25' lift height refers to the height the pump can lift water to at the minimum flow rate. At a stable and constant flow rate, the pump can lift water to about 2.5' height.

Setup Instructions

  1. Choose Location: Select a suitable location for your pump within your aquarium, fountain, pond, or hydroponic system. Ensure the pump can be fully submerged in water.
  2. Attach Tubing: Select the appropriate outlet adapter (5/16 inch or 1/2 inch ID) for your tubing and securely attach it to the pump's outlet. Then, connect your tubing to the adapter.
  3. Position Pump: Place the pump in the desired location, ensuring it is completely submerged. The pump features suction cup mounting feet for either vertical or horizontal mounting to secure it in place.
  4. Connect Power: Once the pump is fully submerged and tubing is connected, plug the power cord into a suitable 110-120V @ 60Hz electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

  1. Initial Start-up: After connecting the pump and ensuring it is fully submerged, plug it in. The pump should start circulating water immediately.
  2. Adjust Flow Rate: The pump features a control knob to adjust the water flow rate. Rotate the knob to increase or decrease the flow as needed for your application.
  3. Submersion Requirement: The pump must always be completely submerged in water during operation. Running the pump without water (no-load running) will shorten its lifespan and can cause loud noises.
  4. Air Removal: For the first startup or after water replacement, gently shake the pump to expel any trapped air inside. Air trapped in the pipe or the pump may cause "gurgling" noises and pump failure due to airlock.

Maintenance

Regular cleaning is essential for optimal performance and longevity of your pump.

  1. Regular Cleaning: Clean the pump regularly to prevent debris blockage. Debris such as fish waste, algae, or gravel can jam the impeller, causing the pump to stop working or make excessive noise.
  2. Disassembly for Cleaning: No tools are required to detach the pump for cleaning. Carefully separate the components to access the impeller and internal parts. Rinse all parts thoroughly with clean water.
  3. Reassembly: After cleaning, reassemble the pump components securely. Ensure all connections are tight before submerging the pump again.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Pump not working / No water flow
  • Pump not fully submerged
  • Impeller jammed by debris
  • Power supply issue
  • Airlock in pump or tubing
  • Ensure pump is completely underwater.
  • Unplug, disassemble, and clean the impeller. Check for blockages in tubing.
  • Check power connection and outlet.
  • Gently shake the submerged pump to release trapped air.
Loud noises during operation
  • Debris blockage
  • Pump running dry (not submerged)
  • Airlock
  • Clean the pump regularly to remove debris.
  • Ensure the pump is always fully submerged.
  • Gently shake the submerged pump to release trapped air.
Reduced flow rate
  • Debris in pump or tubing
  • Flow rate adjustment knob set too low
  • Excessive lift height or pipe resistance
  • Clean the pump and check tubing for blockages.
  • Adjust the flow rate knob to a higher setting.
  • Review pump placement and tubing configuration to minimize resistance.
