Getting Started
Battery Installation
The Medisana FTD thermometer requires one CR2 battery, which is included with the device. To install or replace the battery:
- Locate the battery compartment cover, usually on the back or bottom of the device.
- Open the cover by sliding or gently prying it off.
- Insert the CR2 battery, ensuring the correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Initial Setup
Upon first use or after battery replacement, the device may prompt for initial settings such as time or temperature unit (Celsius/Fahrenheit). Refer to the on-screen prompts and use the device buttons to adjust as needed. The thermometer automatically stores the last measured result.
How to Use Your Thermometer

Measuring Forehead Temperature
- Ensure the thermometer is in forehead measurement mode (indicated by an icon on the display).
- Gently place the thermometer's sensor on the center of the forehead.
- Press and hold the measurement button.
- Move the thermometer slowly across the forehead towards the temple, then release the button.
- The temperature reading will appear on the display.
Measuring Ear Temperature
- Ensure the thermometer is in ear measurement mode (indicated by an icon on the display).
- Gently insert the sensor tip into the ear canal. For adults, pull the ear gently upwards and backwards to straighten the ear canal. For children under one year, pull the ear gently backwards.
- Press the measurement button.
- The temperature reading will appear on the display within 1 second.
- Remove the thermometer from the ear.
Measuring Room Temperature
When not in use for body temperature measurement, the Medisana FTD thermometer can display the ambient room temperature. This feature activates automatically when the device is idle for a short period. The room temperature will be shown on the display.
The device features automatic shutdown after 1 minute of inactivity to conserve battery life.
Care and Maintenance
Cleaning the Thermometer
To ensure accurate readings and hygiene, clean the thermometer regularly. The sensor packaging means no protective covers are needed.
