Setup Guide

1. Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect each item for any signs of damage. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.

2. Outdoor Sensor Placement

For accurate readings, the AcuRite Atlas outdoor sensor should be mounted in an open area, away from obstructions that could affect wind, rain, or temperature readings. Ensure it is at least 5 feet off the ground and level. The solar panel should face south for optimal charging.

3. Lightning Detection Module Installation

Install the lightning detection module into the designated slot on the AcuRite Atlas outdoor sensor unit. Ensure it is securely fastened.

4. HD Display Setup

Connect the power adapter to the HD display unit and plug it into a wall outlet. The display will power on and begin searching for the outdoor sensor signal. Place the display in a central location within range of the outdoor sensor.

5. AcuRite Access and Wi-Fi Connection

The AcuRite Access unit enables Wi-Fi connectivity for remote monitoring. Connect the Access unit to your home router via an Ethernet cable and plug in its power adapter. Follow the instructions in the My AcuRite app or website to connect the Access unit to your Wi-Fi network and register your weather station.

Operation

Viewing Data on the HD Display

The HD display provides an intuitive interface to view current and historical weather data. Use the touchscreen to navigate between different screens, such as current conditions, daily/weekly/monthly/yearly rainfall totals, and UV/light intensity levels.

Remote Monitoring with My AcuRite

Once your AcuRite Access unit is set up and connected to Wi-Fi, you can monitor your weather station's data from anywhere using the My AcuRite app or website. This platform allows you to view real-time conditions, historical data, and set up custom alerts.

Custom Alerts

Configure custom alerts through the My AcuRite app or website. You can set thresholds for temperature, wind speed, rainfall, and lightning strikes to receive notifications when these conditions are met or exceeded.

Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: The outdoor sensor unit requires batteries (not included). Check battery levels periodically and replace them when indicated on the display or app. Use high-quality alkaline or lithium batteries for best performance, especially in cold climates.
  • Sensor Cleaning: Periodically clean the outdoor sensor unit to ensure accurate readings. Remove any debris from the rain collector, wind cups, and wind vane. Gently wipe the solar panel and sensor housing with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Firmware Updates: Ensure your AcuRite Access unit and display firmware are up-to-date for optimal performance and new features. Updates are typically managed through the My AcuRite platform.
