3. Setup

3.1. AcuRite Iris (5-in-1) Outdoor Sensor Installation

  1. Battery Installation: Install 4 AA batteries (not included) into the outdoor sensor's battery compartment. Ensure correct polarity.
  2. Site Selection: Choose an outdoor location that is at least 5 feet (1.5 meters) off the ground for optimal performance. The location should be free of obstructions that could interfere with wind, rain, or sunlight. Ensure the solar panels face true South for maximum sun exposure.
  3. Mounting: Use the included mounting bracket and hardware to securely attach the outdoor sensor to a pole or fence post. Ensure the sensor is level for accurate rain readings.

3.2. AcuRite Access Unit Setup

  1. Placement: Place the AcuRite Access unit indoors, near your internet router. It needs to be within 330 feet (100 meters) of the outdoor sensor.
  2. Connect to Power: Plug the power adapter into the AcuRite Access unit and then into a standard electrical outlet.
  3. Connect to Internet: Connect one end of the included Ethernet cable to the AcuRite Access unit and the other end to an available port on your internet router.
  4. My AcuRite Account: Create an account on the My AcuRite website or through the My AcuRite mobile app. Follow the on-screen instructions to register your AcuRite Access unit and connect it to your outdoor sensor.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Monitoring Weather Data

Once set up, your AcuRite Iris (5-in-1) Weather Station will begin transmitting data to your AcuRite Access unit. You can monitor this data through:

  • My AcuRite App/Website: Access your personalized dashboard to view current conditions, historical data, and trends for temperature, humidity, wind speed/direction, rainfall, and barometric pressure.
  • Custom Alerts: Set up custom alerts to receive notifications on your smartphone when specific weather conditions change (e.g., high wind, low temperature, heavy rain).
  • Amazon Alexa Integration: Use voice commands with Amazon Alexa to ask for your backyard weather conditions.
  • Weather Underground: Share your real-time weather data with the Weather Underground online community.

4.2. Understanding Readings
