Setup

Unpacking and Initial Placement

Carefully remove the printer from its packaging. Remove all protective tapes and packing materials from the exterior and interior of the printer. Place the printer on a flat, stable surface near a power outlet. Ensure adequate space around the printer for operation and ventilation.

Ink Filling

The EcoTank system uses large, refillable ink tanks. Each ink bottle is uniquely keyed to fit only the corresponding color tank, preventing accidental misfilling.

To fill the ink tanks:

  1. Open the ink tank unit cover.
  2. Open the cap for the color you wish to fill.
  3. Uncap the corresponding ink bottle and insert it firmly into the filling port. The ink will automatically begin to fill the tank.
  4. Once the tank is full, the ink flow will stop automatically. Remove the bottle and securely close the tank cap and unit cover.

Power On and Basic Configuration

Connect the power cord to the printer and a wall outlet. Press the power button to turn on the printer. Follow the on-screen instructions on the 2.4" color LCD to select your language, country, and initial setup preferences.

Loading Paper

The front paper cassette holds up to 150 sheets of plain paper.

  1. Pull out the paper cassette from the front of the printer.
  2. Slide the side edge guides outward.
  3. Load paper print-side down, ensuring it is aligned with the edge guide.
  4. Slide the edge guides against the paper.
  5. Insert the paper cassette back into the printer.

Printing Documents

Send print jobs from your computer or mobile device. The printer supports automatic 2-sided printing to save paper and borderless printing for photos up to 8.5" x 11".

Scanning and Copying

Use the flatbed scanner or the 30-sheet Auto Document Feeder (ADF) for scanning and copying multiple pages efficiently. Select "Copy" or "Scan" from the control panel and follow the prompts.

Maintenance

Checking Ink Levels

Visually inspect the ink levels through the transparent ink tanks on the front of the printer. You can also check ink levels on the printer's LCD screen or through the Epson printer software on your computer.

The ink tanks are designed for easy visual monitoring of ink levels.

Replacing Ink

When an ink tank is low, refill it using genuine Epson 502 replacement ink bottles. Follow the ink filling instructions in the Setup section.

Cleaning the Printer

Regularly perform print head cleaning and nozzle checks through the printer's maintenance menu to ensure optimal print quality. Clean the exterior of the printer with a soft, damp cloth.
