1. Product Overview

The NEBO 6587 Z-Bug Lantern + Light is a versatile outdoor device combining an LED lantern, a spotlight, and a UV bug zapper. Designed for portability and efficiency, it provides illumination and pest control for various outdoor activities. The unit features NUV LEDs to attract insects to a 360-degree electric grid, a powerful spotlight, and multiple lantern light modes. 2. Safety Information

  • Read all instructions: Before using the device, thoroughly read and understand this manual.
  • Electrical Hazard: The bug zapper uses an electric grid. Keep fingers and foreign objects away from the grid when the zapper is active.
  • Children and Pets: Keep the device out of reach of children and pets to prevent accidental contact with the electric grid.
  • Water Exposure: This device is not water-resistant. Avoid exposure to rain or other liquids to prevent electrical shock or damage.
  • Battery Safety:
    • Use only the specified battery type (3 AA batteries).
    • Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries.
    • Insert batteries with correct polarity (+/-).
    • Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
    • Dispose of used batteries properly according to local regulations.
  • Cleaning: Always turn off the device and remove batteries before cleaning. Use only the provided Z-Bug Bulb Sweeper for cleaning the electric grid.
  • Modifications: Do not attempt to modify or repair the device. Contact customer support for assistance.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover at the bottom of the unit.
  2. Twist the cover counter-clockwise to unlock and remove it.
  3. Insert three (3) AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and twist clockwise to secure it.

4.2 Initial Inspection

Before first use, inspect the device for any visible damage. Ensure the protective cover for the electric grid is intact and properly seated.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

The device features a side-positioned on/off button. Press the button to cycle through the various light and zapper modes, and to turn the unit off.

5.2 Lantern Mode

  1. To activate the lantern, pull the top section of the unit upwards until the light-emitting section is fully exposed.
  2. Press the power button to cycle through the lantern light modes:
    • White Light: Provides 250 lumens for up to 6 hours.
    • White + NUV LEDs: Combines white light with bug-attracting NUV LEDs for up to 24 hours.
    • NUV LEDs Only: Activates only the bug-attracting NUV LEDs for up to 40 hours.
  3. The lantern is fully dimmable. Hold the power button down to adjust brightness in any lantern mode.

5.3 Spotlight Mode

  1. To activate the spotlight, ensure the unit is in its compact, retracted position.
  2. Press the power button to turn on the spotlight. It produces 120 lumens out to 120 meters for up to 18 hours.

5.4 Bug Zapper Function

The bug zapper function is integrated with the NUV LED modes in the lantern. When NUV LEDs are active (either White + NUV or NUV Only mode), insects are attracted to the light and zapped upon contact with the internal 360-degree electric grid. The protective cover ensures safety during operation.

The carry handle adjusts for use in both spotlight and lantern modes, allowing for easy placement or hanging.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Bug Zapper Grid

  1. Ensure the device is turned OFF and batteries are removed before cleaning.
  2. Use the provided Z-Bug Bulb Sweeper to gently brush away any insect debris from the electric grid.
  3. Do not use water or cleaning solutions on the electric grid.

6.2 Battery Replacement

Refer to Section 4.1 "Battery Installation" for instructions on replacing the 3 AA batteries.

6.3 Storage

Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
