Setup Instructions

1. Download the App

Download the official "Eye4" application from your smartphone's app store (available for Android and iOS). Ensure your phone meets the minimum system requirements.

2. Power On the Camera

Connect the camera to a power source using the provided DC 5V power adapter. The camera will initiate its startup sequence. The power cable is approximately 3-4 feet long, so plan placement accordingly.

3. Network Connection

There are two methods for connecting the camera to your network:

  • Wireless (Wi-Fi):
    1. Ensure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. This camera does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.
    2. Open the "Eye4" app and follow the on-screen instructions to add a new device.
    3. Select the Wi-Fi connection option and enter your Wi-Fi network password when prompted.
    4. The app will guide you through the pairing process, which may involve scanning a QR code generated by the app with the camera lens or using sound pairing.
  • Wired (Ethernet):
    1. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the camera's RJ45 port and the other end to your router.
    2. Open the "Eye4" app and follow the instructions to add a new device, selecting the wired connection option.
    3. The camera should automatically connect to the network.

During setup, you will be prompted for a password. The initial default password is typically printed on a sticker on the bottom of the camera. It is highly recommended to change this default password immediately for security purposes. The system may not allow special characters in the new password.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible Cause / Solution
Camera fails to connect to Wi-Fi.
  • Ensure your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal. The camera does not support 5GHz networks.
  • Verify the Wi-Fi password entered in the app is correct.
  • Move the camera closer to the Wi-Fi router to improve signal strength.
  • Reset the camera to factory defaults using the reset button and try setup again.
Cannot view camera remotely.
  • Ensure your smartphone has an active internet connection.
  • Verify the camera is connected to the internet (check its status in the app when on the same local network).
  • Check for any firewall or router settings that might be blocking the camera's connection.
Motion detection triggers too frequently or not at all.
  • Adjust the motion detection sensitivity settings in the "Eye4" app.
  • Define specific detection zones to ignore areas with constant movement (e.g., a fan).
  • Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from obstructions.
Two-way audio is unclear or not working.
  • Ensure your smartphone's microphone is not blocked and volume is up.
  • Check the camera's microphone and speaker for any obstructions.
  • Verify network connection stability; poor connection can affect audio quality.
Forgot camera password.

If you have forgotten your camera's password, you may need to perform a factory reset. Locate the reset button on the camera (refer to Figure 2) and press and hold it for approximately 5-10 seconds until the camera indicates a reset (e.g., a voice prompt or indicator light change). After resetting, the camera will revert to its default password (usually found on the camera's label) or require you to set a new one during the setup process.
