Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to set up your GOOTHY G40 string lights:
- Plan Your Layout: Before hanging, determine the desired path for your string lights. Ensure the total length does not exceed 75 feet if connecting multiple strands. Locate a suitable outdoor power outlet.
- Secure the Strand: The string lights feature built-in hanging clips above each bulb. Use these clips with hooks, zip ties (10 included), or guide wires to secure the strand along your desired path. Ensure the lights are hung securely to prevent damage from wind or movement.
- Install Bulbs: Gently screw each G40 bulb into its socket. Ensure they are finger-tight but do not overtighten. The bulbs are clear glass, so handle them with care.
- Connect Multiple Strands (Optional): If you have additional GOOTHY G40 string light sets, you can connect them end-to-end using the male and female end plugs. Each 25FT string includes a 6-inch lead with a male plug and a 6-inch tail with a female connector. Remember the maximum total length of 75 feet (3 strands).
- Power On: Once all bulbs are securely in place and the string is properly hung, plug the 2-prong plug into a UL-listed outdoor power outlet.
Operating Instructions
Operating your GOOTHY G40 string lights is straightforward:
- Basic Operation: Plug the string lights into a compatible outdoor power outlet. The lights will illuminate.
- Remote Control (if included): Some variants of GOOTHY G40 string lights may include a remote control for adjusting settings such as on/off, brightness, or color modes. Refer to the specific remote control instructions if applicable.
Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your string lights:
- Bulb Replacement: If a bulb burns out, the remaining bulbs will stay lit due to the parallel circuit design. To replace a bulb, first, unplug the string lights. Carefully unscrew the old bulb and screw in a new G40 5-watt, 120-volt, C7/E12 candelabra base bulb. Two spare bulbs are included.
- Fuse Replacement: The lead plug contains a fuse for safety. If the entire string goes out, check the fuse. Unplug the string, slide open the fuse compartment on the plug, and replace the fuse with a new one of the same rating. A spare fuse is typically stored within the plug.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the bulbs and wires with a soft, damp cloth. Ensure the lights are unplugged and completely dry before plugging them back in.
- Storage: During off-season or extended periods of non-use, unplug the lights, carefully remove them, and store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your string lights, try the following solutions:
- Lights Not Turning On:
- Ensure the plug is fully inserted into a working power outlet.
- Check the fuse in the plug and replace it if blown (refer to Maintenance section).
- Verify that all bulbs are securely screwed into their sockets.
- Flickering Lights:
- Tighten any loose bulbs.
- Check for any damaged wires or sockets. If damage is found, discontinue use and replace the string.
- Only Part of the String is Lit:
- Identify and replace any burnt-out bulbs. Due to the parallel circuit, a single burnt bulb will not affect others.
