3. Setup

3.1. Connecting to a Computer

  1. Connect one end of the supplied USB cable to the USB Type-B port on the rear of the X6 Pro.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to an available USB port on your computer.
  3. The X6 Pro is a class-compliant device and does not require special drivers for most operating systems (Windows, macOS). It will be recognized automatically.
  4. The unit is USB plug-and-play and does not require an external power adapter when connected via USB.

3.2. Connecting Audio Outputs

  • Balanced Line Outputs (L/R): Use 1/4-inch TRS cables to connect these outputs to your audio interface, mixer, or powered monitors for stereo sound.
  • Headphone Output: Connect standard stereo headphones to the 1/4-inch headphone jack on the front left panel for private monitoring.

3.3. Connecting Pedals

  • Sustain Pedal: Connect a standard sustain pedal (normally closed or normally open, depending on the pedal type) to the "Sustain" input on the rear panel.
  • Expression Pedal: Connect an expression pedal to the "Expression" input on the rear panel for continuous control over parameters like volume or modulation.

3.4. Connecting External MIDI Devices

  • MIDI Out: Connect the MIDI Out port of the X6 Pro to the MIDI In port of an external MIDI sound module, synthesizer, or other MIDI-compatible device to send MIDI data.
  • MIDI In: Connect the MIDI Out port of another MIDI controller or device to the MIDI In port of the X6 Pro to receive MIDI data.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Power On/Off

The X6 Pro powers on automatically when connected to a computer via USB. To power off, simply disconnect the USB cable.

4.2. Playing the Keyboard

The 61 semi-weighted keys are velocity-sensitive, meaning the volume or intensity of the sound will vary based on how hard you strike the keys. The built-in 128 GM sounds can be selected directly from the keyboard's interface.

4.3. Using Control Knobs and Buttons

This image provides a close-up of the nine rotary knob controllers on the Midiplus X6 Pro. Each knob is accompanied by a small button below it, allowing for various parameter assignments and control within your digital audio workstation (DAW) or external MIDI devices.

The 9 editable knob controllers and 8 editable button controllers can be assigned to various parameters within your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) or external MIDI devices. Refer to your DAW's manual for specific MIDI mapping instructions.

4.4. Using Drum Pads

Figure 5: Velocity-Sensitive Drum Pads.

This image shows a close-up of the eight large, square, velocity-sensitive drum pads on the Midiplus X6 Pro. These pads are designed for triggering drum sounds, samples, or other percussive elements with varying dynamics.

The 8 velocity drum pads are ideal for triggering samples, drum sounds, or one-shot effects. Their velocity sensitivity allows for expressive rhythmic performance.

4.5. Transport Controls

The 5 editable transport controllers (e.g., Play, Stop, Record, Fast Forward, Rewind) can be mapped to control playback and recording functions in your DAW. Consult your DAW's MIDI setup guide for configuration.

4.6. Pitch Bend and Modulation

The pitch bend and modulation sliders on the left panel allow for real-time expressive control over your sounds. The pitch bend typically alters the pitch of notes, while the modulation slider can be assigned to control vibrato, filter cutoff, or other parameters.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Midiplus X6 Pro.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to clean the surface of the controller. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes, as they may damage the finish.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the controller in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity. Consider using a dust cover to protect the keys and controls.
  • Handling: Avoid dropping the unit or subjecting it to strong impacts. Do not place heavy objects on top of the keyboard.
  • Connectivity: Always handle USB and MIDI cables by the connector, not the cable itself, to prevent damage to the ports and cables.
