Product Overview

The ddpai Hardwire Kit provides a stable power supply to your dash camera directly from your vehicle's fuse box, enabling advanced features like 24-hour parking monitoring without draining your car battery. It converts the vehicle's 12V/2A power to a stable 5V/2A output required by the dash cam.

Installation Guide

Follow these steps carefully to install your ddpai Hardwire Kit.

Step 1: Prepare Tools and Components

Before starting, gather the necessary tools:

Video 1: DDPAI Hardwire Kit Installation Guide (0:03 - 0:17 shows tools and components). This video demonstrates the tools and components required for the hardwire kit installation.

Step 2: Connect Fuse Taps to Wiring

Connect the correct fuse taps to the male and female connectors of the hardwire kit, matching them by color. Ensure connections are tight, using a crimping tool if necessary, and apply protection over the wires.

Video 2: DDPAI Hardwire Kit Installation Guide (0:32 - 0:53 shows connecting fuse taps). This segment illustrates how to properly connect the fuse taps to the hardwire kit's wiring.

Step 3: Identify ACC and VCC Fuses

Locate your car's fuse box (often on the left side of the steering wheel, in the bottom panel). Remove the cover to access the fuses. Use a multimeter or voltage tester to identify the ACC (Accessory) and VCC (Constant Power) fuses.

Avoid removing any critical fuses (e.g., those for airbags). Test each fuse with the ignition OFF to find a VCC fuse (should show ~13V DC). Then, with the ignition ON, test to find an ACC fuse (should show ~15V DC when the alternator is running).

Video 3: DDPAI Hardwire Kit Installation Guide (0:54 - 1:25 shows identifying ACC/VCC fuses). This segment demonstrates how to use a multimeter to locate the correct ACC and VCC fuses in your vehicle's fuse box.

Figure 6: Optimal cable layout and fuse box connection steps. Step 1: Open fuse box and test for continuous power. Step 2: Connect red wire to ACC fuse slot. Step 3: Connect black wire to a metal ground bolt.

Step 4: Attach Ground Wire

Attach the black ground wire from the hardwire kit to any metal bolt that has direct contact with the car's frame. Ensure a secure connection for proper grounding.

Video 4: DDPAI Hardwire Kit Installation Guide (2:41 - 2:54 shows attaching ground wire). This segment demonstrates how to secure the black ground wire to a suitable grounding point in the vehicle.

Step 5: Insert Fuses into Tappers

For each fuse tap, insert the original fuse (removed from the car's fuse box) into the bottom slot. Insert an additional fuse (of equal or lower amperage than the original) into the top slot. The top slot powers the dash cam.

Video 5: DDPAI Hardwire Kit Installation Guide (3:00 - 3:34 shows inserting fuses into tappers). This segment details the correct placement of original and additional fuses into the fuse taps.

Step 6: Determine Positive and Negative Terminals

Using your multimeter, identify the positive (+) and negative (-) sides of the fuse slot you intend to use. With the ignition OFF, test the constant power (VCC) fuse slot. The terminal with power is positive, and the terminal with zero volts is negative. This orientation can vary by vehicle.

Video 6: DDPAI Hardwire Kit Installation Guide (3:35 - 4:19 shows determining positive/negative terminals). This segment demonstrates how to use a multimeter to identify the positive and negative terminals of a fuse slot.

Step 7: Connect Fuse Tappers

Insert the fuse tappers into the appropriate fuse slots, ensuring the positive (+) side of the fuse tap connects to the positive (+) terminal of the fuse slot, and the negative (-) side connects to the negative (-) terminal. Repeat this process for both the VCC and ACC fuse slots.

Video 7: DDPAI Hardwire Kit Installation Guide (4:20 - 5:22 shows connecting fuse tappers). This segment demonstrates the correct way to insert the fuse tappers into the fuse box, aligning positive to positive and negative to negative.

Step 8: Connect Dash Cam and Test

Connect the hardwire kit to your dash cam. Turn on your car's ignition to verify that the dash cam powers on and functions correctly. The LED indicator light on the dash cam should turn blue for normal recording when the ignition is on. When the ignition is turned off and the key is removed, the LED should turn red, indicating it has entered parking mode.

Video 8: DDPAI Hardwire Kit Installation Guide (5:23 - 5:46 shows connecting dash cam and testing). This segment demonstrates connecting the dash cam and verifying its functionality in both normal and parking modes.

Step 9: Route Wiring

Once functionality is confirmed, neatly route the wiring through your car's A-pillar and headliner to the dash cam's final mounting location. Tuck away any excess cable for a clean and professional installation.

Video 9: DDPAI Hardwire Kit Installation Guide (5:47 - 7:17 shows routing wiring). This segment demonstrates how to neatly route the hardwire kit's cables for a clean installation.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, the ddpai Hardwire Kit operates automatically with your vehicle's ignition.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your hardwire kit, refer to the following troubleshooting tips:

Issue 1: Parking Mode is ON with Ignition ON

If your dash cam enters parking mode while your car's ignition is on and running, this indicates an incorrect connection for the ACC wire.

Video 10: DDPAI Hardwire Kit Installation Guide (5:59 - 6:22 shows troubleshooting parking mode with ignition on). This segment provides guidance on resolving issues where parking mode activates while the car's ignition is on.

Issue 2: Camera Does Not Turn On

If your dash cam does not power on at all, it suggests an issue with the constant power connection or grounding.

Video 11: DDPAI Hardwire Kit Installation Guide (6:23 - 6:38 shows troubleshooting camera not turning on). This segment offers solutions for when the dash cam fails to power on after installation.

Issue 3: Parking Mode Still Doesn't Work (after checking connections)

If all physical connections are verified as correct, but parking mode does not activate, the issue might be in the dash cam's settings.

Video 12: DDPAI Hardwire Kit Installation Guide (6:39 - 6:54 shows troubleshooting parking mode not working). This segment advises checking dash cam settings if parking mode issues persist after verifying connections.
