4. Operating Instructions
This section details the primary functions and controls of the IMPACT GX61.
4.1 Keyboard Keys
The 61 full-size keys are velocity-sensitive, meaning the volume or intensity of the sound produced will vary based on how hard or soft you press the keys. This allows for expressive musical performance.
4.2 Pitch Bend and Modulation Wheels
- Pitch Bend Wheel: Located on the left side of the control panel, this wheel allows you to temporarily raise or lower the pitch of notes for expressive effects. It typically springs back to the center position.
- Modulation Wheel: Also on the left, this wheel can be assigned to control various parameters in your software, such as vibrato, filter cutoff, or tremolo. It stays in the position you set it.
4.3 Octave and Transpose Buttons
The dedicated Octave Up/Down and Transpose Up/Down buttons allow you to shift the keyboard's pitch range. The multi-colored LED indicators show the current octave or transpose status.
4.4 Transport Controls and Assignable Buttons
The IMPACT GX61 features dedicated transport controls (Play, Stop, Record, Rewind, Fast Forward) for controlling your DAW. Additionally, there are 7 assignable buttons that can be configured to send specific MIDI messages, offering hands-on control over various software functions.
