3. Setup

3.1 Unfolding the Tripod

  1. Release the leg locks and extend the tripod legs to the desired height.
  2. Adjust the leg angles by pressing the leg angle adjustment locks at the top of each leg and setting them to one of the available positions. Ensure all three legs are set to the same angle for maximum stability.
  3. Tighten the leg twist locks firmly to secure the leg sections.

3.2 Attaching the Camera

  1. Ensure the quick release plate is securely attached to the bottom of your camera.
  2. Loosen the platform locking knob on the FPH-52Q ball head.
  3. Slide the quick release plate with your camera into the clamp on the ball head.
  4. Tighten the platform locking knob to secure the camera in place. Verify that the camera is firmly attached before releasing your grip.

3.3 Adjusting Center Column and Weight Hook

The center column can be extended for additional height. Loosen the center column locking knob, extend the column, and then tighten the knob. For increased stability, especially in windy conditions, hang a weight (e.g., a camera bag) from the hook located at the bottom of the center column.

4. Operating

4.1 Adjusting the Ball Head

  • Ball Movement: Loosen the main ball locking knob to adjust the camera's angle freely. Tighten the knob to secure the camera in position. The ball head allows for 90-degree tilt for portrait orientation.
  • Panning: Loosen the base locking knob to rotate the camera horizontally (360-degree pan). Use the reference scale for precise panoramic shots. Tighten the knob to lock the panning movement.

4.2 Monopod Conversion

One of the tripod legs is designed to convert into a monopod:

  1. Identify the leg with the foam grip.
  2. Unscrew this leg from the tripod chassis.
  3. Remove the center column from the tripod chassis.
  4. Screw the FPH-52Q ball head onto the top of the detached leg.
  5. The leg with the ball head now functions as a monopod.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe down carbon fiber legs and metal parts with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Lubrication: Do not lubricate the leg twist locks or ball head components unless specifically instructed by Fotopro. Lubricants can attract dust and grit, potentially damaging the mechanism.
  • Storage: Store the tripod in a dry, clean environment, preferably in its carry bag, to protect it from dust and moisture.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all screws and connections for tightness. Do not overtighten.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Tripod Instability: Ensure all leg sections are fully extended and twist locks are securely tightened. Verify that leg angles are set evenly. Use the weight hook for added stability if needed.
  • Camera Slipping on Ball Head: Ensure the quick release plate is properly seated and the platform locking knob is fully tightened. Check that the quick release plate is securely attached to your camera.
  • Stiff Leg Sections/Twist Locks: Clean any dirt or debris from the leg sections. If stiffness persists, contact Fotopro customer support.
