5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Monitoring Intercom Activity

Adjust the Channel A Volume and Channel B Volume knobs to set the desired listening level for each channel through your headset or external earphone. The station can monitor activity on one or both channels simultaneously.

5.2. Talking on Channels

To speak on a channel, press the corresponding Talk button (Channel A or Channel B). The CS-702 features a microphone preamplifier with a limiter and speech-shaping circuits for clear audio transmission.

  • Momentary Talk: Press and release the Talk button quickly to speak momentarily.
  • Latching Talk: Press and hold the Talk button for approximately one second until it latches. The button will illuminate dimly to indicate it is latched. Press again to unlatch.

5.3. Signaling Other Stations

To send a call signal to all stations on a specific channel, press the corresponding Call button (Channel A or Channel B). When a remote station sends a call signal, the CS-702's associated Talk button will illuminate brightly, attracting the operator's attention.

5.4. Program Audio Integration

If program audio is connected, use the Program Volume knob to adjust its overall level. The Pgm switch allows you to control how program audio interacts with intercom communication:

  • Off: Program audio is disabled.
  • Intrpt (Interrupt): Program audio is present but will be attenuated or muted when an operator speaks on the intercom.

The Pgm Feed Level control adjusts the level of the program audio being fed into the intercom channels.

5.5. Party Line Linking

Press the Party Line Link button to combine Channel A and Channel B into a single operational channel. This allows all users on both channels to communicate as if they were on one unified channel.

5.6. Sidetone Adjustment

Adjust the Sidetone A and Sidetone B controls to set the level at which you hear your own voice in your headset when speaking on Channel A or B, respectively. This helps in natural conversation flow.

5.7. Remote Mic Kill

The Remote Mic Kill button, if supported by connected remote stations, can be used to remotely disable microphones on those stations. This is useful for managing audio in complex setups.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Cable Inspection: Regularly inspect all cables for signs of wear or damage. Replace damaged cables immediately to ensure reliable operation and safety.
  • Environmental Conditions: Operate the unit within specified temperature and humidity ranges to prevent damage.
